For Atipatta Nayanar, whose image had earlier been consecrated and installed by Avan, a fisherman, funds were received from members of his own community for providing the daily sacred food offering.
From these funds, cash was given on interest to Damodara Bhattan. The amount deposited was 2,100 kasu. Having received these 2,100 kasu, we agreed to provide, every day, cooked food made from two nazhi of rice for the sacred daily offering.

Atipatta Nayanar belonged to the fishermen community. A man named Avan, who belonged to the same community, installed an image of the Nayanar in the temple and collected contributions from members of his community to provide daily worship and food offerings.

Damodara Bhattan, a Siva Brahmana, received the deposited money and agreed to conduct the daily puja and provide the prescribed offerings to Atipatta Nayanar from the interest earned on the endowment.

The Bhakti tradition transcended social distinctions. A Nayanar was honoured and worshipped in the temple, irrespective of the social background
