Agrippa's Trilemma
An excerpt, from The Theory Of Everything by Jed McKenna
In timespace, consensus, U-Rex reality, everything that exists must have a beginning - a time before which it wasn't, and after which it was - and something from which it came; a source or cause, a precursor or progenitor.
Anything that exists must have been created, anything that stands must stand on something. Any structure must have a foundation to hold it up, but when we look to see what's holding up the structure of our reality, we find three logical impossibilities; Infinite Structure, Self-Supporting Structure, and Magic Structure.
Infinite Structure is bottomless. There is no final, all-supporting support, just endless, unsupportable support. Every new sub-level we insert to support the one above requires another one below. That's infinite regression, and it's turtles all the way down.
Self-Supporting Structure is where the foundation hangs from the structure it supports. You can say, for instance, that you know that God exists because the Bible says so, and the Bible must be right because it's the word of God. That's the circular reasoning fallacy; every chicken came from an egg and every egg came
from a chicken. And so on. Forever.
Magic Structure is when we say fuck it, we all see the stupid chicken, it obviously came from somewhere, so let's just say there's a Miracle Egg and leave it at that. That's the axiomatic fallacy, where we insist on a magical foundation - God, the Big Bang, the Great Turtle - and move on. We'll call this the Hissy Defense a bit later on.
And those are the three horns of Agrippa's Trilemma - infinite regression, circular reasoning, the axiomatic fallacy - which falsify the very possibility of objective knowledge. The trilemma part is that, unless you can completely ignore the question of being, like my dog does, you have to settle for one of the three, and then
employ doublethink to forget the fact that everything you know is based on a lie.
Pitbull owners who can’t admit the breed has the highest attack rates (by far), are absolutely delusional. Out of a sample of about 500 humans killed by dogs in the US, 66% were caused by Pitbulls. Yes, you can own one that isn’t violent. But no, it’s not just bad owners they turn on. And yes there is a breed level issue where a higher % than other breeds just snap.
The breed is, by best estimates, 6-7% of the dog population yet they account for over 60% of human fatalities and horrible non-fatal injuries caused by dog attacks. Nice families who think they have a good one have ended up with dead kids way too many times.
If you want to risk it, fine but don’t pretend that they aren’t the most dangerous breed in the world. At least be honest about the risks.

This is amazing.
The White House waived Jones Act requirements in mid-March, and it's generated billions in economic activity and revealed tons of natural trade routes that were impossible while the Act was in effect.
We really need to permanently remove this stupid law!

Being naughty requires knowing what’s expected AND intentionally doing otherwise.
Children are born ignorant of both, so these babies can’t be naughty.
Then what are they doing? They are forming their first theories of how the world works, and in many cases, those theories conflict with what adults already know.
Because of course they’ll often get it wrong! The magic is that they can figure things out at all, and that they’re so often correct.
Here, the most amazing feature of people, their ability to form ideas and learn about the world, is described as immoral, degenerate, something that needs to be forced out of them and replaced with its opposite, blind obedience.
Authoritarian regimes are skilled at smears and defamation to justify power and control, and the creepiest form is when it is done out of love.

SF nearly doubled homelessness nonprofit spending from 2021 to 2025, $274M to $487M, and got MORE homeless people for it (7,754 → 7,973). Funny how that sounds like a taxpayer-funded scam.
