@Mpj1973Carl@Jalopnik My bug was similar. But I think some of the horses had escaped.
It was especially bad when it occasionally started running on 3 cylinders only.
@hallbowdes@sydney_ev@Tesla@TeslaAUNZ A quick google suggests a new Tesla Model 3 battery is around $5k-$7k. A new engine for a Ford Ranger 3l Diesel is around $9k.
Neither price includes labour.
@at9468@Dazzaat What if this happens, and we get stuck with Summernats culture?
Will there be rehabilitation programmes made available for people? I concerned that we’d be expected to foot the bill ourselves, with no paid time off for this.
@_davidlimbrick@NewsProspector I’m not sure how the small business owners will be able to survive when they can’t serve coffee, French toast, croissants, smashed avocado, smoothies, eggs Benedict, salads, etc.
Presumably the monoculture we’re getting will be the one the Brits brought with them in the 1700s
@DonJuliowwbs@martinez_j7902 Yep, he’s free to wear the tshirt, the gym is free to cancel his membership. As I understand it, you have freedom of speech, not freedom from consequences.
@Dreamkillerxcu@techAU@davemccowen As a lover of sedans and wagons, I can confirm that the batteries in the floor making the car taller is a disappointing reality.
@Squirrel4peanut@Neondancer I had a 535d. The engine never missed a beat. After 12 years, the “lifetime” oil in the gearbox was clearly in need of replacement. And most of the rubber seals on the car had began to deteriorate.
@MtotheShacks@Kelvalvin@Peter_Fitz I’m pretty sure they can fail, typically one or more cells inside the battery undervolts which can brick the battery.
But that is rare, and can be repaired.
Plus, the more EVs there are, the more viable a third party battery repair business is.
