@atrupar The fact that Watergate would be a 12 hour news story today, says less about Nixon than it does about Trump. The current level of Trump corruption is so overwhelming in scale, that one can’t possibly keep track of it all.
JD 'Goober' Vance's remark about Richard Nixon reveals everything you need to understand about the kind of president he would be if elected... expect more corruption, greed, and lies from the Oval Office... -DW
Watergate absolutely should have ended Nixons presidency. That’s what accountability looks like. The scandal wasn’t the burglary; it was the abuse of power, obstruction, and cover-up. Sound familiar JD?
The crazy part isn’t that Watergate brought down Nixon. The crazy part is that we’ve reached a point where some people think presidential corruption is just another news cycle.
@atrupar Vance is saying corruption is being ignored now, & he is pleased. Corruption is tolerated & acceptable now, & he is delighted.
Vance is waving his hand, dismissing malfeasance in office, lightheartedly supporting the idea of abuse of power as a way of life in the United States!
@atrupar This should surprise no one.
JD Vance willingly agreed to run as the Vice Presidential candidate of an insurrectionist, adjudicated rapist business fraud felon, because Donald Trump sent a rabid mob to hang his original Vice President for refusing to break democracy for him.
@atrupar Imagine saying Watergate took down a presidency "overreacting."
The lesson wasn't that Nixon was treated too harshly.
The lesson was that there was once a time when accountability still had a pulse.
Pleasure to meet the good brother Kentucky Governor @AndyBeshearKY tonight in Arkansas. I love Gov. Beshear’s message about walking our faith by standing up to bullies and speaking to the common issues & values that bind us together as Americans.
Family says a black 19-year-old Kaidr Skinner was shot and killed by white Wilmington Police. "How did my son get shot in the back, twice? How did my son wind up in the police car shot with handcuffs on?
🇳🇴🤯 A remarkable World Cup coincidence: in 1994, Erik Thorstvedt, Alf-Inge Haaland and Gøran Sørloth were part of Norway’s squad at the World Cup in the United States. Thirty-two years later, at the 2026 World Cup in North America, their sons — Kristian Thorstvedt, Erling Haaland and Alexander Sørloth — are representing Norway on the same stage.
