Interesting note on how we got here:
Back in 2016, all 40 members of the Virginia Senate and 97 members of the House voted to extend data center tax breaks to 2035. Former Gov. Terry McAuliffe tried to amend the bill to change it to 2028, but the GA rejected his proposal.
Speaker Scott pointed out today during the presser that he was not in the General Assembly at that time.
"They all voted for it. I wasn't here," he said.

Today from me: Opposition to data centers is cropping up all over the country. According to a new Data Center Watch report, $156 billion in projects were blocked or delayed in 2025. Is it enough to shake Wall Street's confidence in the A.I. buildout?
