Want to teach data at Calvin? Please please do, and share...Stats applicants also welcome! And I'm happy to answer questions, too. https://t.co/YsM2lAxBAO
@oaggimenez@umontpellier@twitthair1@CollegeDoctoUM Thank you! I was just thinking "uuugh I need to find yet more glmm/GAMM example datasets this weekend for class" high hopes this will greatly shorten the search!
Meet the Professor: Q&A with the amazing @vianey_lb about everything from sharks, snakes, sheep (and just 2 cats) to being multi-cultural and the first Latin-American professor @UofTStatSci 🦈🐍🐑🐈🎉https://t.co/urbuntggJN @UofTenvironment
Registration is now open for our National Seminar Series! https://t.co/1svKiVcNba
Ruth King, Thomas Bayes’ Chair of Statistics at @EdinburghUni, will talk about hidden Markov models. Don't forget to register for the student session as well.

Don't let's talk about the statistical approach too much though, it's a long story...
@GenevieveKozak @itatiVCS I have online learnr examples too, but I guess you're already got more than you've time to look at! If comfortable making packages, you can make one that has an Rmd template for assignments to avoid common roadblocks like not requiring right packages. (Or just share the file)
@GenevieveKozak @itatiVCS We are neighbors @itatiVCS, excited to follow you! I use jupyter too for other languages but RStudio for R. Learnr tutorials have revolutionized R teaching for me...can break things up, structure code exercises with with hints, ask quiz questions. And they are doing not watching.
@RolandLangrock @CedScherer@ericJpedersen Cool! FYI we recently had a journal agree to publish interactive html widgets as graphs in the online edition. I didn't expect them to say yes or to be able to integrate them but was pleasantly surprised! So animation might be an option.
@Miles_Ott Props. Considered this and then did shared one minute intro videos and a survey instead after computing how many hours it would take and gagueing existing exhaustion level...maybe should reconsider for next time. Or at midterm.
@saana_is Interesting paper! But I agree - if ANY of my students "solved" this problem without plotting a graphic answering *the exact question they were asked to investigate* I would be :(. I thought the gorilla would be hidden in a *different* one...
@millerdl We just had a related conversation in my department in relation to core requirements and math cognates...why is it fine to require 4-6 math courses for many science majors but the right number of required stat courses is always <= 1?
All 2020 projects will begin in mid-September and be completed by mid-December. Could you or your organization help us out by partnering on a project this year? Questions? Interested in learning more? Please contact @slderuiter.
Do you know an organization or project with data, and data analysis needs, but not capacity or funding to do everything? Looking for partners for my undergrad students' advanced data analysis service-learning projects - please share and get in touch! Details in thread...
If you are local to the Grand Rapids, MI area and safe arrangements can be made for a site visit or meeting that would enhance the work, I am open to that too.
