"Sorry, you're David, right? From SBS. I grew up watching you!"
😍 A heartwarming moment as Awer Mabil paused his press conference to thank David Basheer and reflect on the impact that SBS had on his journey.

Thunderbolts* (2025): This film handles its heaver mental health themes well. Being a Marvel superhero film may have both hurt it (in having expectations of a lighter romp) & benefited from it (in exploring themes to an audience who might not have willingly encountered it)

... and What You Need to Know About It, by @DmitryOpines
Especially relevant today, superbly engaging, and nerdy in all the right ways.
Barbie (2023): Is this film ultimately subversive, traditional, both, or neither? I’m not sure I’m smart enough to make a final judgement, but whatever it is, it is sufficiently entertaining
"Don't bring me problems, bring me solutions" doesn't eliminate problems. It stops people from raising the hardest problems.
Leaders need to hear what's broken even if the fix is unclear.
A better option: “Bring me problems, as long as you’re willing to be part of the solution"
Captain America: Brave New World (2025): A largely routine, grounded Marvel action film, with finally some over links Celestial in MCU. It was still sufficiently entertaining in the moment. The easter eggs were fun though, with one in particular my favourite.
Thanks to all the writers of all the books I've read over all my life (including @BarristerSecret and @DmitryOpines for their recent great books). Through books & reading (amongst other ways), we grow and develop both individually and as a society.
If you're tired, stressed, worn out, hangry or more, don't forget to consider the simple solution of food, drink, and a nap/rest. After all, it was good enough for God to do for Elijah 😀 (1 Kings 19)
The Americans (TV Series 2013–2018): I can't stop thinking about the final episode I saw recently. What an amazing(ly tense, wholly appropriate for the entire conceit of the series) end to a remarkable series. This was drama at some of its finest.
