Overhead is an expense. It costs the org money & doesn't make any. Overhead costs on legacy systems are significant. It's the cost of keeping them alive. Best to fix that sooner rather than latter before that cost eats the company whole.

A one-day Sprint is an interesting exercise because it exposes exactly how counterproductive all those meetings (or "events" or whatever you want to call them) actually are. If you work collaboratively, you can dump the lot of them. Free up time to get actual work done!
