@paddymacc1 Much of, often most, Irish power is generated by imported gas which has risen in price.
They're protecting their margins which is standard coporate practice. Directing them to do otherwise is the responsibility of the Irish govt and while probably a good idea - not their call.

It's only in the last 30yrs that we've attempted to compete and catch up - simply we are victims of our own success. And still newish to non-insular type of governance.

@_louise__ Art. 1 & 6 say nothing of this, Art. 10 makes it very clear that provision can be made by law to manage State assets.

Those laws should change and strategic infrastructure should be owned by the State.

However saying they were "stolen" is misleading and needlessly inflames.

Carbon tax as an EU rule should be paused - it doesn't align with reality.

At the very least ringfence that for increased SEAI grants to promote sustainability & remove VAT on green retrofits.

@GaryWhite1997 @TirChonaillAbu @SK_00001 The reasons for the housing crisis are nothing to do with government money: a plethora of causes including poor governance, lack of investment, inflation, a planning system unfit for purpose and serial complainers. None of that should preclude us from having adequate defence.

Where we'll surely differ however, is that the smaller building is generic and unsightly, and could usefully be replaced by a better one.

Only in Ireland. A judicial review has been taken against a simple 4km tram extension, whose construction had already been delayed by the Government. All at a time when the city is crippled by gridlock.
