It looks as though @SouthernWater are ending the year by releasing some almighty torrents of sewage 😭
Some of the worst ongoing releases...
Felpham - 282+ hours
Littlehampton - 288+ hours
Cowes - 75+ hours
Chichester - 170+ hours
Stokes Bay - 72+ Hours
Sickening.
The Ocean Cleanup program has now removed more than 100,000 kg of plastic from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch: https://t.co/OxBkOWgrPm
The ocean isn't a garbage dump. Protect it.

We're 5 days away and our coastlines open out to a sea of sewage. 💩
It's disgraceful. 😡 Water companies, we're coming for you in 2023.
Today is the day.
We're heading to @10DowningStreet to submit our petition to return the water industry to public ownership.
Here is the letter which we will be handing over to @RishiSunak ⤵️
Some great #OceanOptimism to start the week!

"One site near a sewage treatment works showed 760 times the maximum level of E. coli that would be allowed if it was a bathing area".
And there's still no sign of @DefraGovUK's water quality targets.

Hot on the heels of Wales' announcement last week, the @GOVUK has shared that single-use #plastic items including cutlery, plates and polystyrene cups are to be banned in England 🙌

Kelp forests are key in climate change mitigation. They absorb over 200m tons of carbon a year globally. Accelerated loss of these habitats will have a catastrophic effect on biodiversity. 🌍
We're calling for all UK marine protected areas to be highly protected by 2030. 🌊
Here's the footage of our latest System 002 plastic extraction from December 5th and the last one for the year, as our crew is returning to port today.
As we approach the end of 2022, System 002 has cleaned up a total of 193,826 kg of plastic from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
"Julia Walker headed to Shoreham beach for a swim in September but walked away from her morning dip with a bacterial and kidney infection."
Swimming is supposed to be good for your health but, thanks to companies like @SouthernWater, it's a risk.

Kelp washing up on Worthing beach has to be a positive sign for our Sussex Kelp Recovery. Keep the records coming. Thanks Eric Smith and Sussex Underwater @SussexWildlife@sussex_ifca@Bluemarinef#helpourkelp and many more.
The south coast, as ever, has been treated like a giant toilet by the water industry 💩
In a few days we'll have some stats about just how bad this month has been in the @SouthernWater area 👀
"The UK public has made clear their disgust at what’s happening to our rivers and seas. It’s time the government stepped up to curb the destructive and selfish behaviour of the companies responsible for this literal shit storm.”

The places that are supposed to help us lead better, healthier lives are being treated like open sewers by profiteering polluters. And the government is doing nothing to stop it. 🤬
Will you stand with us to help #EndSewagePollution? RT to show your support! 🙌
Not such a good morning for the UK's coastlines... Today most of the south coast is on 💩 alert.
#SickofSewage? RT to show profiteering polluters that we're watching them 👀
