For 8.5 years, I've trained in Jiu-Jitsu 5-6 days a week. My instructor was #1 in the world in 2018. We do the exact same warmup every day: jogging, shuffle, switch the hips, jumping jacks, ab work, pushups, air squats, etc.

Nobody questions that. But Protestants feel so...performative.

It's like they use prayer to show off to everyone how holy and righteous and saved they are.

It would be like people doing handstands or back flips in our warmups and looking down on any of us who can't do that.

Protestants need to read some Bruce Lee who didn't fear the man who tried 10,000 moves one time. He feared the man who tried one move 10,000 times.

Practice makes perfect. If we have a perfect prayer, why change it? Strive to emulate it and live it.

@charlestingler I didn't realize you could do confession as long as you have a recognized baptism. My husband and I will be starting OCIA very soon and were under the impression that you can only utilize that as a member of the church. I will be asking my priest about this. Thank you for sharing

@BishopJaxi As a former protestant, once I understood that angels are not taking away from God's glory when they interced for us and God created them to do so and then Jesus says we become like angels when we are in heaven... Why is intercession from saints so far fetched for these ppl?

@Breann_B_ Our parish offers norvus ordo only. It's the only parish option for many who live out here. A woman we spoke to this Sunday told us her husband & her live 1HOUR away yet it's the closest parish to their home. I agree, we shouldn't be so critical and hyper fixated on TLM. It's odd

All of these Protestants claim Sola Scriptura.
All read the same Bible.
All disagree.
All call each other heretics.
So… who is practicing Sola Scriptura correctly?
Who decides who’s right?
Who has the authority to settle it?

This is Protestantism.
Everyone claims the Bible is the ultimate authority while treating their own interpretation as infallible.

No unity. No authority. Just chaos.
Christ did not build a Church like this.

I just keep coming back to this.
Guys, by many definitions, I fit the bill of a trad-wife. I'm conservative Christian. I believe in male headship. I homeschooled for 14 years. I had 6 kids--2 of them birthed at home.

My husband is a farmer. He works the land. He supports our family. He's a big strong guy, who played football in college. He's a church elder.

And it's all rubbish.

Don't get me wrong, our life is beautiful. Messy, and not as idyllic as it appears. But we have many good things. I love our kids.

But it's all rubbish IN COMPARISON TO THE SURPASSING GREATNESS OF KNOWING CHRIST. He is everything.

People are out here promoting the trad-life as the savior of western civilization, and what will fix our great nation. We look at the state of the world and say, "you know what people need? We should just make them..."

You've lost the plot. It's all about Christ. He is the plot. He's the beginning, middle, and end.

Being a Christian isn't promoting ideals found in the Bible--cherry picking which verses confirm the life I would like to pursue. It's being held by Christ. It's believing he is everything. It's saying, not by my flesh, but by his flesh. Not by works, so that no one can boast. He's the plot.

@Guilcat96Lewis In rural TN Catholic communities are tiny& there r many antiCaths like my father. Remember Catholicism is the default OG Christianity. You do not have to defend it. Your conversion &transformation of heart will speak for itself❤️‍🔥 Debate can be good but it can also bear bad fruit.

@BishopJaxi The distinction is that LDS believe they can become Gods themselves. Becoming like God in nature. Which is NOT the church fathers interpretation. Mormons twisted everything. But I do understand how theosis scandalizes many upon first hearing abt it. Esp ex LDS.

Of course, this idea that one can be a sinner and yet be covered in the righteousness of Christ comes from the novel doctrine of the penal substitution, that an unjust and angry God somehow punished innocent Christ in order to acquit the guilty, and by glomming onto this novel doctrine, one can be, as Martin Luther alluded to, 'dung covered in snow.'

But the Atonement was not a penal substitution of a wrathful God; it was a meritorious self-sacrifice pleasing to God. It was also a model for us to follow.

Our righteousness is not an IMPUTED righteousness from a mere imagined mental or emotional transaction, but an INFUSED righteousness where through baptism we enter a life of grace and are transformed and more and more conformed to the character and will of Christ, by our participation in that grace, by our walk with Christ.

Christ Himself says you’re “absolutely” wrong if you claim to be “absolutely sure” of your salvation (so does Paul):

• Heb 6:4-6 – describes sharers in Holy Spirit [true believers] who THEN FALL AWAY

• Heb 10:26-27 – if sin AFTER receiving truth [true believers], JUDGMENT REMAINS

• 2 Tim 2:11-13 – [true believers] MUST HOLD OUT TO THE END to reign with Christ

• Rom 11:22 – [true believers must] REMAIN in his kindness or YOU WILL BE CUT OFF

• Gal 5:4 – separated from Christ [having been true believers], YOU’VE FALLEN FROM GRACE

• Matthew 24:13: “But he [the true believer] who endures to the end will be saved.” Meaning, he who does NOT endure to the end will NOT be saved.

• Matthew 24:44: “Therefore YOU [true believers] MUST BE READY; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” If your salvation is assured, why do you have to be “ready”? Who cares when He comes?

• Colossians 1:21-23: “He has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, PROVIDED that you [true believers] continue in the faith…” Meaning, there’s NO guarantee.

• 1 Corinthians 9:27: “But I [a true believer] pommel my body and subdue it, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.” Paul obviously thinks disqualification is a possibility.

• The Letter to the Hebrews BY ITSELF confirms that even true believers can lose their salvation (6:4-8; 10:26-31; 12:14-17). This applies to GENUINE Christian “brethren” who “fall away” from God if they allow their hearts to become “evil” & “unbelieving” (3:12).
