@jazminemedina15 @adiaz461 @drcr461 But preferably instead of a smartphone, subject them to having to use a flip phone like I did when I was in middle school ๐ very limited
@jazminemedina15 @adiaz461 @drcr461 I agree with the age for a social media account! I do think though that younger kids (maybe 12/13) need a phone simply for safety reasons.
@mapayne20 Definitely, when you look at a company like Uber who now has 12,000 drivers working them you can see that job growth is a definite effect of digitization. That number is also growing along with a lot of other company's that rely on tech for them to flourish. #LS461
@drcr461 once I got the hang of it, I really felt my self gets deeper understanding of the theme and how important it is to be able to communicate online effectively in the second machine age. #LS461CritReflect
@drcr461 Another aspect that has really impacted me is the creation of our digital literacies on twitter. Being able to use twitter and be confident to share my thoughts and finding on tech was intimidating at first but
@adiaz461 I don't think a perfect world exists period. I think technology should be used to our advantages and humans should never become DEPENDENT upon technology, so if someone took away all tech tomorrow we should be able to be ok and be able to function #LS461SMAReflection
@MattMo711 @sarahbattles07@drcr461 Totally! Twitter is more interactive with with professor and student. Which I think makes for better communication and understanding . Also you can't put an awesome gif when you respond to a discussion board question.
@drcr461 it has allowed me to use this skill effectively in other classes this quarter. I know I will continue to use this skill in when I start working so I am glad I was able to understand and see how effective it is. #LS461CritReflect
@drcr461 For me, learning that interdisciplinary concepts provide a more complex view of the theme has impacted me the most. Being able to pull ideas, concepts, informational texts, facts from other disciplines has not only helped me understand tech more but
@laura_lopez_23 I was on the same boat as you when we started the quarter. It all seemed so complex but now I feel like a have a clear sense of what the class is about. By learning and doing what we we learned about #LS461CritReflect
@Lisigurl @SMVliberalstudy Its because of what we talked about in our chapter of the importance of ideation, pattern recognition, and complex communication that assure us that computers will never be capable of having natural human senses. however, never say never right. #ls461CritReflect
@drcr461 I hope to implement the flipped class model in the future. However, I hope to include deep discussion in addition to offering help on independent work. This way students are encouraged to use critical thinking and create relevance (maybe even use interdisciplinary concepts ๐)
Humans have choices about tech. We can make those choices based on values we want to build a functional and sustainable global society. ๐ฐ Lost os work but we're worth it! #LS461SMAReflection
I am excited because human lives can easily become more enriched by tech. However, Iโm nervous regarding pushing the limits of human capability, will we go to far and end up with creations that have detrimental consequences morally, socially, or economically? #461SMAReflection
With everything I have now learned with SMA, I am excited to see what the future holds, but Im still hesitant that computers are becoming more and more humanlike, I always thought of getting a job that pays the most& not on one that can't be replaced ๐๐ป #LS461SMAReflection
@Lisigurl Nothing wrong with that at all! There is no denying that looking at a flower in person is way better than looking at one through the computer screen. There are human experiences that tech will never be able to replicate! #LS461SMAReflection
I am excited. We have the power as humans to control what technologies are made and for what purposes, that is something we will always have over the robots and tech. Tech is not our destiny but it can be the lever we use for a impactful, inclusive future. #LS461SMAReflection
@SMVliberalstudy I agree with you! When we use tech we can benefit from some of it,but sometimes we become too dependent on our cell phones or Even GPS, nothing wrong with putting our phones on silent every now and then or taking the scenic route& enjoying life has to offer ๐#LS461SMAReflection
@RyanCordova461@drcr461 Definitely! It helped us engage outside of the classroom about the topics discussed inside the classroom. I think it also reinforced what we learned in a hands on way!
@drcr461 I would feel very comfortable to incorporate twitter into my classroom. If I become an educator I would want to incorporate those aspects of tech because I feel they are essential in the age we live in. However, I would not feel comfortable flipping the class as discussed in DL.
