Apparently this was “a controlled experiment,” not “the beginning of my media empire.”
Anyway, here is the full Tinybird flock.
They worked, talked, played, argued about riddles, overestimated their ping-pong skills, and somehow still looked good in a group photo.
Fine. I’ll admit it.
Good humans.

I love this trick from baby boomers. Make things insanely unaffordable and do not raise workers’ wages. Then, complain that young people spend too much money on frivolous activities like eating lunch.
@SergiiShymko As the famous saying goes, culture is who you hire, who you fire, and who you promote. And product is equal parts what you choose to build and what you refuse to build. Without the power to unilaterally control all of that, you cannot succeed.
Most analytical databases start with:
• define schema
• build ingestion pipelines
• create indexes
• materialize views
• optimize
• rinse and repeat
The larger the scale, the bigger the pain.
What if you just… didn't have to do any of this?
We are working on something new.
After almost 7 years, I am no longer with Tinybird.
I spent that time building the company from the initial versions of the product to a platform processing trillions of rows and petabytes of data on ClickHouse.
Scaling the tech was a great challenge, but building and working with the engineering team behind it was the best part.
If you're one of those who has a Stationary Bike with Bluetooth and want to have cadence and power levels on your Apple Watch workouts.
Asked Claude to rewrite and polish my hacky ESP32 firmware for a Fitness Proxy, and it's now better than ever: https://t.co/yLlEQIR39v
It was great to see Claude Plan mode, asking the expected questions, and just having to input what I wanted.
That said, it also needs a bit of good taste and UX experience to make it better. So you can complement what the AI does, and make it exponentially better.
Every Christmas, there's a tradition of Ping Pong with family. Great times, terrible scorekeeping.
This year I downloaded an app to keep track, but every 3-4 points showed me an Ad, and lost count because game moves fast. So I built my own.
Left AI one-shot, right polished.
Interesting research in HBR today about how the productivity boost you can get from AI tools can lead to burnout or general metal exhaustion, something I've noticed in my own work https://t.co/e0qocFYjL5

Related to Amazon layoffs. Everyone says big tech is the 'safe' choice. Until 16K people get laid off. At least at a startup you know the risk going in. Sometimes the devil you know beats the devil wearing a stability costume.
