Immense planning and technical precision was required for this absolutely preposterous (but real) view: I captured my friend @BlackGryph0n transiting the sun during a skydive.
This might be the first photo of it's kind in existence. See a video of this moment in the reply 👇
Astronomers have finally been able to see the real shape of a star's explosive death. They have seen not just the light but also the shape of a supernova at its very beginning.
The huge star that became SN 2024ggi blew up in the galaxy NGC 3621, which is about 22 million light-years away. The VLT got to work and took a picture of the moment the shockwave broke through the star's surface in just 26 hours. The explosion didn't make a perfect sphere; instead, it looked like an olive.
This indicates that nature doesn't always follow the rules. It means that our ideas about how stars die are changing. It means that the mechanics of these huge cosmic objects might be much more complicated than we thought.
Let's look up, be curious, and keep asking: how did the universe get to be this way? 🌌

A supernova was spotted only a day after birth showing its real shape before colliding with anything around it
This first ever glimpse is rewriting what we know about stellar explosions
The two teams succeeding with the top heavy QB/WR duo approach are the Eagles and Lions.
What do they have in common?
They are incredible at drafting OL/DL.
The Bengals need to figure out their drafting in the trenches.
Burrow, Chase, and Higgins can do the rest.
