@shellenberger To think what you are all willing to trade for anonymity
Sánchez is right. Humans have never, in our history, been entitled to anonymity.
You think you are defending democracy... you are giving it up to the enemies of democracy. Without a fight.
Shame on you while you do this
@DavidDim_ocracy@RodneyPodsly You resort to criticising NATO's role in bringing down a leader who used sarin gas on his own people.
That might not be the most poorly thought out response Ive ever heard, but it'll do until we have more data
@DavidDim_ocracy@RodneyPodsly And why would a defensive pact threaten Russia?
Use your brain mate.
Why indeed should the West allow Russia to dictate who is an is not a member of their alliances?
You are a paid Russian shill.
At the risk of sounding like the American government has gone insane, if you’re going to be focused on regulating AI, how about starting with AI wet labs that create biological weapons and viruses? Maybe just a thought. Instead of trying to attack AI for political gain in general.
@Digital__James@simonmaechling What happens when you order bananas on Amazon?
See what I’m getting out. This line between the digital and physical worlds has NEVER been real. They’ve always been able to interact and influence each other.
Text generation is all you need because the entire internet is text
@simonmaechling Load of rubbish. Computers and TV e internet have been able to impact the physical world for decades, AI can use the internet.
Jesus Christ this site has some poorly thought out takes.
Note to the internet: if ANY claims their product may pose an extinction risk, we should probably take it seriously rather than convincing ourselves it’s a psyop.
Because if you’re wrong… well…
@jamesredmon81@tedlieu The market, in the case of car makers, can’t “see” the need for seatbelts because the deaths due to their absence happen after the car sale.
There are things the market can see because it is compelled by specific forces. Regulation is the only counterbalance we have ever had
@evilduck92@Altimor But the framing matters and the framing in the AI debate is disingenuous just as your example vaccine framing "I want vaccines to be tested..." is disingenuous: vaccines *are* tested and the example claim is framing it like you're innocently asking for untested vax to be tested
I can't predict the AI future, and I'm very unsure about what the right strategy or policies should be moving forward. What I do know is that people who scoff at the idea that we may be in grave danger have not read enough about AI.
