@TdotJdot2@gullyvuhr@iamAtheistGirl I'd say you've embraced a 'culture of death' if you reduce atheism or religious beliefs down to what happens when you die
@gullyvuhr@angel_0f_deathx Is there anything to suggest trans rights were a huge motivating factor? This just seems like a call to betray a minorities to appease people who would've voted Republican anyway

@Tuesdaysarebad @bttldog @pxielovee And just to clear up some ambiguity, do you consider these "Christians" you speak of intentionally disingenuous? Or did they just not examine their faith enough to come to the proper conclusion?
@Tuesdaysarebad @bttldog @pxielovee Well since neither God nor Jesus isn't personally coming down to say which is the right interpretation, you can't objectively prove one or the other correct.
That pretty much demolishes the idea of Christianity as an objective moral framework
@Tuesdaysarebad @bttldog @pxielovee Except Christianity is interpretable, and thus malleable to be adjusted to an individual's or community's own subjective morality.
Take antebellum America for example, where Christianity was used to both condone and condemn slavery
@TimHickson1 Adrian Tchaikovsky's Alien Clay was a pretty good read (or listen; I did audiobook).
More interesting alien sci-fi from the guy who did Children of Time. And the endings interesting to view from a positive or negative light, even if one's probably the more correct interpretation
"I operated every day and most of my list was children... we saw a lot of sniper injuries, the children seemed to be specifically hit by quadcopters... lots of them were shot in the back, in the head..."
