When someone walks into a health facility seeking care, what happens next depends on more than the willingness of a healthcare provider to help.
Are the necessary commodities available? Is the equipment in place? Does the provider have the skills and confidence to offer the care needed, without judgement?
These are some of the questions behind the work taking place in @KilifiCountyGov.
Through the Kaleidoscope Initiative, RHNK and consortium partners are working alongside the County Department of Health to strengthen five model health facilities through the provision of essential SRHR commodities and life-saving equipment.
But preparing a facility is not just about what is on its shelves or in its treatment rooms. It is also about the people providing care.
Healthcare providers are strengthening their skills through Post-Abortion Care and Values Clarification and Attitude Transformation (VCAT) training, with an emphasis on quality, compassionate and non-judgmental services.
Because a woman seeking care needs more than a facility that is open. She needs a provider who is equipped to help, the right resources to support her care, and an environment where she can be treated with dignity.
That is what readiness should look like: the right people, the right resources and the right support when care is needed.

Emergency contraception can help prevent pregnancy when contraception fails. Knowing your options and acting promptly matters.

Youth leadership has always been at the centre of what we do.” @nellymunyasia , Executive Director, RHNK
And what better way to see that belief in action than in a room filled with young people being celebrated for their leadership journey?
The RHNK Pan-African Youth Leadership Academy graduation was a moment of celebration, reflection and looking ahead.
There were proud moments as the cohort received their certificates, reflections from the young leaders on what the journey meant to them, and conversations with mentors who had walked alongside them throughout the Academy.
There was laughter, gratitude, lessons shared and a few reminders that leadership is not something you simply graduate from.
It is something you keep practising.
This video captures some of the moments from the graduation ceremony the voices, the reflections, the people and the energy in the room as we celebrated a cohort of young leaders and the journey that brought them here.
And while the ceremony marked the completion of the Academy, it also marked the beginning of something else:
young people taking what they have learned, the relationships they have built and the leadership they have developed into the spaces where change needs to happen.
Here’s to the Class of 2026.
Your journey continues.

Day Two of #DigitalHealthWeek!
The global conversation on digital health continues to bring stakeholders together to shape a shared vision for the future of health by 2030. The future of healthcare is digital, but it must also be equitable and accountable.
#Mydataourhealthke
Digital health must work for everyone, not just those with access to technology. As Kenya advances towards UHC women, young people, persons with disabilities & communities must not be excluded by digital barriers
@amiheso_01@TK_Mwangi@Gacheri_01 @DavidWedava
#MyDataOurHealthKe
Digital health transformation must not create new forms of exclusion. Limited internet connectivity, lack of devices, high data costs and inadequate digital skills can prevent many people from accessing essential health services.
#Mydataourhealthke
Meaningful digital health solutions begin with listening to the people who use them. Women, young people, persons with disabilities, people living with HIV and rural populations, must have a voice in shaping the technologies that affect their healthcare.
#MyDataOurHealthKe
Digital health literacy must go hand in hand with digital access. Young people need more than access to smartphones they need to understand their rights, how their health information is collected and used, and how to protect their privacy.
#mydataourhealthKe
CHPs are at the heart of delivering care at the community level. Equipping them with the right skills, secure digital tools and practical guidance on data protection is essential to safeguarding patient privacy and building trust in digital health systems.
#MyDataOurHealthKe
Effective digital health systems require strong coordination across all levels of government. County governments must be actively involved in shaping digital health strategies, strengthening data protection measures & ensuring accountability.
#MyDataOurHealthKe
A connected digital health ecosystem requires partners and donors to work towards shared national priorities. When investments operate through fragmented systems, resources are duplicated, coordination suffers and public trust is weakened.
#Mydataourhealthke#digitalhealthweek
Building a sustainable digital health system requires people with the skills & knowledge to manage it. Counties need trained health personnel, dedicated data protection officers & health champions to support & safeguard health information.
#Mydataourhealthke#digitalhealthweek
The value of interoperability is enabling health facilities to securely exchange relevant patient information so healthcare providers can make informed decisions and deliver coordinated care, wherever patients seek services.
