God, this chart encapsulates an entire generational shift once the full context hits you.
In the name of optimizing every aspect of society through technology, we have removed something deeply essential to the human experience: the friction of day-to-day interactions.
Job interviews used to require going in person with the risk of rejection, and now job resumes are submitted with a single click online. Young people, already demoralized by a tough job market, feel even more isolated when they submit endless resume’s to "ghost jobs" (online postings left open with no real intent to hire).
Then enter dating. Out of young men 18-25, almost HALF have never approached and asked out a woman in person. For millennials and Gen-Z, dating apps are the norm.
DoorDash is wonderfully convenient and yet again, removes all friction from even getting food. Just leave it at the door.
The business model of every social media app is to quite literally keep you on the screen for as long as possible via retention tricks. Algorithmic radicalization is replacing social interaction pretty quickly.
It’s really no wonder drinking and sex are down while nihilism is up. The chart below is like one stroke in a huge painting once you realize that the entire social apparatus through which we interacted with each other has been uprooted and replaced with a digital world of endless stimulation.
Not all hope is lost. @adammocklerr
REPORTER: You mentioned that, staying on as Fed governor, you intend to keep a low profile. Could you give us a little more detail on what that looks like?
JEROME POWELL: *ducks down*
@GeraldoRivera Russia is located right next to Ukraine and they have been unable to convince a county 1/3 the size of Iran to give up after 5 years using bombs, tanks and boots on the ground.
But sure, we can float a Navy around Iran and convince them with only bombs.
@jjverdi@thesunbursts@funder Zero proof offered. If it's so easy to prove your point why wouldn't you provide a link?
The most consistent outcome has been a huge growth of income inequality.
@seanhannity@GavinNewsom What a snowflake response. Immediately going to the ad hominem attacks rather than address the topic.
Is the world really a safer place? I'm pretty sure there are missiles flying all over the middle east, the straight is closed and only in theory will Iran be nice in the future.
@YoungKimCA What other laws that already exist are good ideas that could also prevent something from happening that almost never happens?
We should definitely spend our time on such things.
@CarlLefavre@Greyinggeek1@AnnCoulter Yes, Iran is 2.5 times larger than Afghanistan. If we couldn't subdue Afghanistan (or Iraq) why would we be able to handle Iran?
In March of 2022, in response to the Ukraine War causing oil prices to spike above $100/barrels, Biden released 180 million barrels over 6 months from the SPR. This was 8 months before the midterms.
In March of 2026, in response to the Iran War causing oil prices to spike above $100/barrel, Trump is releasing 172 million barrels from the SPR over 5 months. This is 8 months before the midterms.
@Johnny_Joey@DecodingFoxNews Fox paid close to a billion dollars for lying in the service of Donald Trump's big lie and you want to give them the benefit of the doubt with a mistake that is again in the service of Trump.
Common sense is not as common as one might think.
I’m so fucking tired man. Whatever happens this time, they’re still gonna be out here harassing people, they’re still gonna be out here terrorizing people, and every few weeks, they’re gonna kill somebody again.
And every single time, mfs on here will rise up in full-throated defense, like Karens, finding the tiniest little details to nitpick and defend the innocence of these oafs running around playing pretend cop. “Don’t resist! Don’t call them names! Don’t go out in public!” As if we didn’t live in the Land of the Free.
Frankly, I don’t need to know the details of every new public execution, because even from the beginning it’s all counter to how we do things in this country. It’s counter to a just and fair legal system. It’s counter to values of freedom and our God-given rights. It’s counter to the goddamn Constitution. For fuck’s sake, it’s counter to common sense.
So, we give these random dudes off the street guns and tell them to go harass and kill people? And for what? To defend our country from an “invasion”? Meanwhile these ICE fucks have effectively invaded and terrorized an entire state with their bullshit.
Never thought I’d see the day a government police force of thugs would occupy an American city and kill American citizens and so many people I used to respect would stand up and support it. People like you, so willing to disregard principles for party allegiance, make me sick. It’s un-American and it’s deranged.
I fear none of this is going to get any better, we’ve really crossed the chasm.
