Had a productive meeting with H.E. Dr. Oumer Hussein Oba to further strengthen Pakistan–Ethiopia economic ties. Agreed to expand trade, promote joint ventures in agriculture, engineering & manufacturing, and enhance tourism cooperation.

Welcomed Ethiopia’s plan to hold a Single Country Exhibition in Islamabad this year, and appreciated the steps to launch of Ethiopian Airlines’ direct flights to Lahore after karachi. Connectivity will boost B2B opportunities and people-to-people links.

Pakistan is ready to deepen engagement with Ethiopia and across African markets through practical, results-oriented partnerships.

Met delegation of Pakistan’s leather & footwear industry today. Discussed sector’s strong export potential, challenges from used footwear imports, and regulatory improvements.

Encouraged industry to enhance exports and competitiveness while ensuring locally produced footwear remains reasonably priced for consumers. Government will continue supporting growth of this important sector.

We will inshallah settle the HS code related to used footwear which is being imported along used clothing. A factor which is seriously hurting the industry and its growth.
