Great to see our independent / young scrutiny work and many aspects of #merton work as good practice throughout this recent #jtai report by @Ofstednews
“Multi-agency work was found to be most effective when partners made serious youth violence a priority issue”.
We have today published a joint report with @CareQualityComm@HMICFRS and @HMIProbation finding that serious youth violence is more far reaching than many realise, affecting children all over England and leaving a serious impact on communities: https://t.co/JvWPKkYfaS
@YellowDoorSol Peer Heroes evaluation published ⭐️incl yr 10 children view "If I hadn’t done the project I’d probably just.. ignore it or pretend that I didn’t see it. Now that I know how big it is & how much they need help I’d probably say something". DM for report & info #VAWG
Researchers @SolentUni, @RoehamptonUni and @YorkUniversity have published a series of recommendations on how to work with young people to reduce and raise awareness of #VAWG following the pilot of a peer-led project run by @YellowDoorSol.

At #VISIONADA2024 - with so many DA leaders and champions. First off…the findings of a review of adolescent domestic abuse research captured in this slide:
New @ChildrensComm report reveals that 92% of child domestic abuse victims receive no advocacy support.
The DA Act recognises children as victims in their own right, but dedicated services for them are few & far between.
Support for children must be secured in the Victims Bill.
Spent today in Merton for the joint adults & children’s safeguarding partnerships anti racism conference with inspirational people inc local experts by experience, partners & national specialists @JahnineDavis @AnkaAnn100#merton#safeguarding
👇 #JTAI findings recognising the ‘unremittingly committed’ partnership in @Merton_Council & our #scrutiny work to raise awareness of #adultification of black children, ensuring their voices heard and acted on. We keep going…always more to do to protect children #contextualharm
Merton continues to be one of the safest boroughs in London.
Through the Merton Safeguarding Children Partnership (MSCP), we're raising awareness of child exploitation and building trusting relationships with our young people.

This is deeply troubling.
Domestic abuse is a devastating, widespread crime. Separation is known to be a very high risk time.
The police - and every agency around the victim - must be equipped to respond quickly & safely.
My thoughts are with the victims of this awful attack.
Proud of our Young and Independent Scrutiny work in #merton….this picture representing us (!) & challenging #adultification and #antiracism engagement with children last year is taken from MSCP’s 2022/3 annual report summary (link below).. have a read!
