ADC YOUTH WING ISSUES 3DAYS ULTIMATUM TO INEC: RESTORE DEMOCRACY OR FACE NATIONWIDE CIVIC ACTION
FULL TEXT OF PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE YOUTH WING OF THE AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS ADC, AT THE NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS,FCT ABUJA.
Date: Monday 6th April, 2026
Gentlemen of the Press, Fellow Nigerian Youths, Distinguished Citizens,
Nigeria is under democratic siege.
What should have been a steady consolidation of 27 uninterrupted years of civil rule since 1999 is now being deliberately undermined by those entrusted to protect it.
Institutions meant to defend the will of the people are now being compromised, weakened, and weaponized against democracy itself.
Let us be clear, this is not a warning, this is a crisis.
As Mallam Aminu Kano once warned,
“The democratic humanism of the future can only be built on the ruins of the present corrupt and decaying system.”
Today, that decay is no longer hidden.
It is active, deliberate and also dangerous.
On July 29, 2025, the African Democratic Congress held a lawful NEC meeting under the full supervision of INEC.
That meeting dissolved the previous National Working Committee (NWC), produced a new leadership led by Senator David Mark.
INEC received the outcome, verified the process, officially uploaded and recognized this leadership on September 9, 2025
There was: No dispute. No objection. No ambiguity.
So, what changed?
Power, Pressure and Political interference.
Months later, individuals who had already resigned resurfaced to challenge a process they had no legal standing in.
While the matter remains before the courts, the Court of Appeal ordered, Maintain status quo ante bellum, the last uncontested position.
That position is clear, The leadership under Senator David Mark.
Yet INEC chose to ignore established facts, disregard due process and unlawfully interpret a court order.
Let it be stated unequivocally: INEC has no constitutional authority to interpret court orders. That duty belongs strictly to the courts. What INEC has done is not neutrality. It is complicity, partisanship and institutional sabotage.
We ask the INEC Chairman directly:
On what legal basis did INEC act on letters and an ex parte motion that has neither been heard nor determined by a court of competent jurisdiction?
Why did INEC Act on pending motions?
Rely on letters instead of binding court orders?
Assume the powers of the Judiciary?
This is not a mistake, but a violation of the Constitution.
We respectfully call on the National Assembly to Exercise their constitutional oversight immediately, Investigate this grave breach, initiate appropriate actions, including the recall or removal of the INEC Chairman because time is of essence. Democracy must be defended with action, not silence.
We urge the Judiciary to Clarify its orders to prevent manipulation, reassert its authority as the sole interpreter of the law, protect the integrity of Nigeria's legal system
We commend the Armed Forces for defending Nigeria. However, we state clearly, the military must remain neutral and stay away from civic democratic actions.
This is a civil and constitutional matter. Nigeria must not witness any attempt to use force against lawful democratic expression.
To over 100 million youths of our dear Country, this is about our future, our voice, our democracy. We must not defend injustice nor normalize illegality.
Together, let's stand now to defend our democracy or lose everything democracy represents.
Out Position is very clear; The leadership inaugurated on July 29, 2025, led by Senator David Mark, remains the only legitimate leadership of the ADC.
Any attempt to alter this without a final court judgment is illegal, null, void and unacceptable.
We hereby issue a 3DAYS ULTIMATUM TO INEC to:
Immediately restore the Senator David Mark-led leadership on its official portal.
Publicly apologize to Nigerians for its unconstitutional and partisan conduct.
Defiance is the only language they understand!
We are moving forward with our scheduled congresses starting April 7th because no institution is bigger than the will of the people.
They thought they could stop us, but we have already set the pace.
Dem go learn sense...
Na we go teach dem.
Eyes On The Ball.
We Move...
God bless Nigeria.

The sight of armored tanks blocking INEC Headquarters, in Abuja today is a big slap in the face to every Nigerian. While the government lets "prodigal son" butcher our people in Plateau State without a single soldier in sight, they find the guts to send tanks to INEC just to bully us. They do not give a damn about your life or your safety. They only care about protecting their seats and their stolen loot. It is clear now that the President is a coward who fears peaceful citizens more than he fears the terrorists killing our children. These soldiers and tanks have no business in Abuja. They need to be in Zamfara and Maiduguri where blood is flowing every day.
We will not sit down and accept this nonsense from a government that has failed on every level. If the APC thinks they can use the army and the courts as their personal toys to crush the opposition, they are joking. We are going to use every legal channel and every court process to fight back and destabilize their evil plans to stay in power by force. They want to deregister parties and silence the truth while the masses suffer in hunger, but we will not be quiet. This President has shown he is an enemy of the people. We will fight their tyranny with everything we have until justice is served for the ordinary Nigerian.

A concerned Nigerian
THEY ARE TRYING TO DELETE YOUR VOICE.
This afternoon, we stood with the National Chairman of our Great Party, Senator David Mark and our national leaders to address a dangerous game being played by INEC. Yesterday, April 1st, INEC issued a statement "de-recognizing" our party’s leadership. This isn't just a legal debate; it is a direct attempt to kill the only coalition strong enough to challenge the status quo in 2027. By pretending they are "confused" about who leads the ADC, INEC is trying to lock the door against the opposition so that only one party remains on the ballot. We see through the trick: they want to create a leadership vacuum so we can't field candidates or hold our congresses starting April 9th. This is no longer about internal party politics—it is an official attempt to turn Nigeria into a one-party state.
Our my message to Professor Amupitan and the Presidency is simple: the youth of this country are not "April Fools." We will not sit in our rooms and tweet while you dismantle the last platform of hope we have. We demand the immediate resignation of the INEC Chairman for this blatant partisanship. If our leadership isn't fully restored and this interference stopped within the shortest period of time, we will move from the press gallery to the pavement. We will occupy every street and every major city in this nation. If you refuse to let us choose our leaders at the ballot box, we will make sure you cannot govern from your offices. Our future is not for sale, and we will defend it with everything we have. #SaveOurDemocracy #ADC #OccupyNigeria #NoToOnePartyState #YouthRise

@BalarabeRufai_ Your courage and boldness are truly inspiring. This is the kind of leadership Nigerian youths have been waiting for—fearless, united, and committed to reclaiming the future. The message is loud and clear: the time for silence is over.
Well done National Leader 💪
@BashirAhmaad If Nnamdi Kanu was Kabir Usman, will you still call him a "convicted terrorist" knowing that his underlying battle with the state authorities borders on self-determination? Still you want a united Nigeria, only when it suits you.
