BREAKING:
The IMF has published the list of the fastest-growing economies in Africa in 2026, & Nigeria is not among them. The countries are:
1. Ethiopia: 9.2%
2. Guinea: 8.7%
3. Uganda: 7.5%
4. Rwanda: 7.2%
5. Benin: 7%
The last time Nigeria saw this level of economic growth was in 2015 under GEJ. Bold Reforms crossed the Red Sea, but left Nigerians in Egypt
This is Dr. Von Batten. I was once told that international loan requests, especially close to elections, are one of the preferred ways for corrupt African leaders to loot their treasuries and steal public funds.
The Nigerian presidential election is a few months away, and, on cue, Nigeria's President Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT) is seeking billions of dollars from the @WorldBank and, not surprisingly, from the European Investment Bank (@EIB) and France's Agence Française de Développement (@AFD_France).
Nigeria takes on loans, funds disappear, politicians buy houses in the U.S. and EU, while ordinary Nigerians struggle to feed their families. We will reach out to the @WorldBank, where the U.S. is a stakeholder. Given Nigeria's history of corruption, loans should be paused until Nigerians elect their next leaders.
