International law is non-negotiable. 🇪🇷
Even prominent analysts like @martinplaut —often critical of the Eritrean government—agree on this undeniable fact:
Eritrea’s borders and sovereignty are legally settled.
Key facts confirmed by international law:
📌 Clear Borders: The Eritrea-Ethiopia border was demarcated by the International Boundary Commission in 2002.
📌 Territorial Integrity: The Port of Assab and all coastal waters belong strictly to Eritrea.
📌 Commercial vs. Naval: Eritrea has consistently offered peaceful commercial port access, but sovereign territory cannot be ceded to host a foreign navy.
Landlocked status does not give any nation the right to undermine its neighbors' sovereignty. Respect international law and border agreements.

Eritrea 🇪🇷 The Nation:
Pan-Africanism was built to defeat imperialism, not dress it in African clothing.
From Haile Selassie annexing Eritrea in 1962 while hosting the OAU in 1963, to Abiy Ahmed claiming sovereign sea rights today, the playbook remains identical: preach continental unity to the West while practicing sub-imperialism next door.
Demanding neighbors’ coastlines "by any means" isn't African brotherhood—it is neocolonial revanchism masked in AU flags.
True Pan-Africanism demands equal sovereignty for all, not hegemony by the loudest.

#BREAKING: ⚓Landlocked Ethiopia’s Navy Hosts Four-Day Maritime Summit
ETHIOPIA ― A landlocked country with no coastline, no access to the sea, and apparently no shortage of imagination is hosting a four-day "regional" naval commanders’ forum in Addis Ababa.
Naval commanders from #Yemen, #Oman, #Djibouti, Somalia's self-governing regions of #Somaliland, and #Puntland have traveled to Addis Ababa to discuss maritime security with a navy whose biggest maritime operation so far might be navigating a couple of speed boats on Lake Tana.
Imagine being a naval commander, traveling to a landlocked capital, sitting through four days of discussions about the ocean, and then returning home without seeing a single wave.
When you can’t bring the navy to the sea, you bring the sea to your imagination.🫣

Will the UN and AU Fail Eritrea Again?

Eritrea’s history presents an enduring challenge to the credibility of the international order: what value do sovereignty, self-determination, and territorial integrity possess when the institutions established to protect them fail to act? From the troubled international handling of Eritrea’s decolonization to the prolonged non-implementation of the Eritrea–Ethiopia boundary ruling, the record reveals a consequential gap between international principles and their enforcement. Today, renewed tensions between Eritrea and Ethiopia place that gap under another test.
The question is no longer merely historical. It concerns whether the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU), and their member states will defend the rules governing relations among sovereign nations before another regional confrontation escalates.
From Denied Self-Determination to Independence
Following the Second World War, Eritrea’s political future became entangled in the geopolitical calculations of the victorious powers. UN General Assembly Resolution 390 A(V), adopted in 1950, established a federal arrangement between Eritrea and Ethiopia, which entered into force in 1952. Rather than achieving independence, Eritrea was denied its legitimate right to decolonization and was force to enter a federation that was subsequently dismantled by Ethiopia’s imperial government, culminating in annexation in 1962.
The international system failed to prevent that outcome or restore Eritrea’s political rights. The consequences were devastating: three decades of armed liberation struggle, immense human sacrifice, and a prolonged conflict that ended with Eritrea’s independence in 1991.
The lesson is unmistakable. When international commitments yield to geopolitical expediency, the costs are borne by populations whose rights those commitments were intended to protect.
Africa’s own institutional record also demands scrutiny. The Organization of African Unity’s 1964 Cairo resolution affirmed the principle of respecting borders inherited at independence. Eritrea’s subsequent experience demonstrated the enduring difficulty of translating declared principles into consistent protection of national sovereignty.
The Boundary Decision and the Cost of Non-Implementation
The Eritrea–Ethiopia border war of 1998–2000 presented another defining test of the international system’s willingness to uphold agreements it had helped broker. The Algiers Agreement of December 2000 established a binding legal mechanism for resolving the dispute through international arbitration. On April 13, 2002, the Eritrea–Ethiopia Boundary Commission (EEBC) issued its unanimous delimitation decision, which both parties had expressly agreed in advance would be final and binding.
Yet the decision remained unimplemented on the ground for years because Ethiopia refused to honor its commitment to the Algiers Agreement and final and binding ruling of a neutral panel of international jurists. In November 2007, the UN Security Council called for its immediate implementation without preconditions. The Council’s own intervention underscored the troubling gulf between securing a binding legal determination and ensuring that the parties actually complied with it.

Tigray Youth Join the Fight Against ENDF In Droves
Footage from #Tigray appears to show Tigrayans from all walks of life taking up arms against #Ethiopia, which occupies much of Tigray. The ENDF continues to target civilians and systematically dismantle Tigray's industrial base.
#Eri101: There is no place for 'both-partiesm' or false equivalency. Only one neighbour has a declared—and repeated ad nauseam—policy of violating the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of its neighbour, while fabricating ludicrous 'narratives' to justify this.
Large demonstrations by the #Tigrayan diaspora have reportedly taken place in Toronto, #Canada, amid renewed fighting in northern #Ethiopia.
Protesters called for international attention, civilian protection and accountability, while condemning Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government.
Ethiopia is officially becoming a terrorist state!
Getachew Reda was appointed recently as a Minister on East African Affairs by PM Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia.

Getachew Out-Abiying Abiy: The Betrayal of the Tigray People
* 🔴 Treason on the Martyrs' Graves: The loudest voice of resistance traded the blood of hundreds of thousands of Tigrayans for personal rehabilitation and a comfortable seat in the very palace that blockaded and starved his people.
* 🟠 Laundering the Siege: The chief spin-doctor now actively whitewashes the regime's devastation, providing moral cover to the federal command while Tigray's territorial integrity and displaced millions remain abandoned.
* 🟡 Calculated Capitulation: Rather than defending the constitutional rights of his community, he facilitates Addis Ababa’s divide-and-rule agenda, fracturing Tigray from within to secure his own bureaucratic survival.
* 🟣 The Ultimate Co-Optation: In an unforgivable act of political apostasy, yesterday’s defender has become the oppressor's loyalist puppet—proving that for personal survival, even the darkest collective trauma can be traded away.

Ethiopia’s attempt to drag #Eritrea into negotiations through political brinkmanship, intimidation, manufactured crises, and relentless war rhetoric is a dangerous miscalculation destined to fail. Addis Ababa cannot threaten Eritrea’s sovereignty with one hand while demanding blanket security guarantees with the other. Sovereignty is not a bargaining chip, territorial integrity is not negotiable, and Eritrea’s national security will never be held hostage to Ethiopia’s political ambitions.
For nearly eight decades, Eritreans have endured threats, military aggression, political coercion, diplomatic isolation, and countless attempts to dictate their nation’s future. We have heard the boasting, witnessed the saber-rattling, and survived far greater challenges than today’s reckless political theatrics. Does Addis Ababa seriously believe that another round of threats and manufactured urgency will somehow force Eritrea into concessions? What could not be achieved through decades of war and coercion will certainly not be achieved through diplomatic blackmail today.
Meaningful negotiations require mutual respect, recognition of sovereign equality, and an unequivocal commitment to peaceful coexistence. A government that questions its neighbor’s territorial integrity cannot simultaneously demand unconditional assurances for its own security.
Eritrea will not be intimidated into negotiations, bullied into concessions, or pressured into surrendering its sovereign rights. #Ethiopia’s leadership must abandon the illusion that escalating tensions creates diplomatic leverage. Respect Eritrea’s sovereignty, cease the threats, and understand one fundamental reality: Eritrea’s independence is settled history, its sovereignty is non-negotiable, and its future will never be dictated from Addis Ababa. @US_SrAdvisorAF@_AfricanUnion@UN@StateDept@mfa_russia@reda_getachew@AbiyAhmedAli
Kamikaze drones reportedly launched from Ethiopia targeted critical infrastructure facilities in Sudan today, including those most heavily relied upon by civilians.
Does Ethiopia really believe that Sudan lacks the capability to target its multibillion-dollar Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam with just three kamikaze drones in the coming days? What is Ethiopia counting on?
Is there any state in the world that is not a prisoner of Geography? Every single state is short of a strategic resource one way or another. You can't fix that by annexing another state's sovereign territory.
If #Ethiopia has Indeed a legal claim, why don't they take it to international court ? Just like #Eritrea and Yemen did back in 90s.
If there is war between Ethiopia and Eritrea it can only be because of Ethiopian territorial expansion ambitions. The port of Assab and it adjoining areas are Eritrean. Ethiopian needs to access the sea is better served thru bilateral agreements than thru armed conflict. @AbiyAhmedAli and his gov are beating the drums to wage war and will distabilize the Red Sea basin

🛑 The Truth Laid Bare: Farah Maalim Exposes Addis Ababa’s Implosion & Regional Proxies 🇰🇪 🇪🇷 🇸🇴 🇸🇩
When an experienced regional statesman speaks without diplomatic double-talk, manufactured narratives crumble. Seasoned Kenyan politician and former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim has laid bare what observers across the Horn of Africa have documented for years: Ethiopia is suffering structural internal collapse, while the regime in Addis Ababa acts as a proxy for external interests [00:15, 00:41].
From Amhara to Tigray, and from Gambella to Moyale, central authority has broken down .
🔍 Key Geopolitical Realities
🔴 The "Mercenary" Proxy Agenda: Maalim outlines how Abiy Ahmed caters to external sponsors—acting as an instrument for Gulf- and Western-backed designs [00:10]. Addis Ababa has operated as a logistics corridor facilitating supplies to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) devastating Sudan, while generating friction in Somalia and South Sudan. 🇸🇩🇦🇪
🟡 The Disintegration of the Federal Center: The reach of the federal government has eroded across the country [03:08]. Beyond Addis Ababa and core enclaves, authority has receded across Amhara (Fano resistance), Tigray, Afar, and Benishangul-Gumuz [01:00, 01:05, 07:03]. As Maalim warns: Ethiopia risks fragmenting into multiple regional entities. [04:36] 📉
🟣 Manufactured External Diversions: Whenever internal control deteriorates, external flashpoints are manufactured [01:23, 09:24]. Aggressive maneuvers over "sea access" in Somaliland, border pressure on Somalia, and expansionist pushes around Moyale and Hudet serve to distract from collapsing governance at home [05:39, 09:24]. 🇸🇴🛑
🟢 The Eritrean Red Line: Contemplating a military adventure against Eritrea is a fatal miscalculation [06:13]. Eritrea stands as a disciplined, consolidated state built on decades of collective defense and hard-won resilience [06:22, 06:41]. As Maalim emphasizes: Direct confrontation against Eritrea would dismantle what remains of Ethiopia’s military organization. [06:16, 06:49] 🇪🇷🛡️
🔵 Strangled Supply Corridors: With vital northern roads contested and Red Sea littoral states enforcing sovereign deterrence, Addis Ababa's strategic transit options are tightening [08:24, 09:29]. ⚓
💡 The Strategic Conclusion
"A leader who acts as an external proxy while igniting conflicts across his own provinces cannot avoid the implosion of the center." [00:41, 01:58]
The Horn of Africa is rejecting manufactured pretexts [01:23, 04:08]. Genuine regional security relies on non-interference, sovereign borders, and recognizing that internal failure cannot be cured by encroaching on neighboring coastlines [04:30, 09:00]. 🕊️⚡
