The Bill seeks to give effect to Article 54 of the Constitution; to restructure the National Council for Persons with Disabilities and to provide for its
functions and powers; to provide for the institutional framework for protecting, promoting and monitoring the rights of persons with disabilities; to provide for incentives and reliefs.
The object of the Bill is to repeal the Persons with Disabilities Act,
No. 14 of 2003 and have in place a law that is consistent with the Constitution.
The Bill places emphasis on human rights approach towards realisation of persons with disabilities in Kenya and societal responsibility to protect and promote them.
Kenya Institute of Special Education in collaboration with United States International University Africa and the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Program, is thrilled to kick off a specialized training program for visually impaired learners.

@AmuroLokomol Both the Kenya Constitution and the CRPD to which Kenya is a state party, guarantee persons with disabilities the right to accessibility. Stakeholders need to lobby for this to be mandatory!
