🚨 Heads up, XRPL node operators. Version 3.4.1 is out, and it's an emergency release. No release notes yet. They'll come later.

Here's why it can't wait. A new amendment, fixBatchV1_2, reached majority on September 25. 33 of 35 validators back it right now. The announcement says it fixes a minor issue with Batch. If support holds for two weeks, it switches on around October 9. It's default Yes, so upgrading also casts a vote for it.

Any node not on 3.4.1 won't recognize it. When it switches on, those nodes get amendment blocked. They stop following the ledger until they upgrade.

The ledger shows two more amendments on the same clock. BatchV1_1 (bundles several transactions into one) around October 9, and PermissionDelegationV1_1 (lets one account act for another) around October 8. Both shipped in earlier versions.

Reminder, the packages now live at https://t.co/0YBgl4wzEE with a new XRPLF signing key. Updating takes a few extra commands, all in the guide below.

I am a strong believer that the XRP Ledger is best suited for finance.

The ledger is firmly oriented around financial functions with capabilities such as the built in DEX, auto bridging, lending protocol, MPTs, and its flagship use case for sending cross-border payments cheaply.

However, it's becoming clear to me that the ledger has room for more than just finance.

Projects are taking on digital art, gaming, event ticketing, provenance for physical assets, identity solutions, and more - proving that the ledger is capable of supporting so much more.

Maybe the question is not which projects should be built on the ledger, but instead, how can builders leverage the ledger most effectively for their projects?
