The CofE let Britain down. Why? bc the “material negative impact” - It has a £11.1bn+ portfolio. Implementing 30x30 on their land would require ~£20m one-off (0.18% of assets / 2.9% of recent surplus) - negligible. V sad #CofE

@MaryCreagh_ Good stuff but just a drop in the ocean.
The land beside SSSI’s & NNRs should be purchased & enhanced - with the aim of making these areas x4 larger.
This would cost £60 BILLION.

@CarolineLucas@MrMatthewTodd@wildcard I expect the CoE has already ~ 20% ‘wild’ land (if hedges, tree cover is included) therefore they only needed another 10% - which could have been done with minimal loss of production.
I bet the proposal wasn’t sold to the CoE effectively.
The rise of batteries:
California hit 33% of peak load within 22 quarters of batteries passing 1%. Australia 23% in 17, Texas 17% in 16. Great Britain took 28 quarters to reach 17%.
Once the curve bends, deployment compounds.

“In 1938, Guy Callendar, an English steam engineer, was the first person to show that the world had already warmed by about 0.3C, and linked this to the rise in carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere and the amount of coal that had been burned. That was more than 80 years ago”.

@MetJam_ Hopefully farmers do not need to spray crops with glyphosate to dry them off! This pre-harvest desiccation leaves residues in our food, and glyphosate is classified by the WHO’s IARC as ‘probably carcinogenic to humans’. #Farming#UK
One of the ocean's oldest rivalries, caught at the surface.
In 2025, off the coast of Mauritius, a sperm whale emerged carrying a freshly killed giant squid (Architeuthis dux). Its tentacles were still intact, and a cloud of ink lingered in the water from the squid's final attempt to escape.
