@Erdayastronaut Some of the points you listed come down to over-optimization/ squeezing formerly good things rather than actually innovating. But it is often just temporary and opens the door for new players to deliver something better.

Sports like caving or free solo make me wonder if people ignore the fact that natural environments change all the time or they are simply not aware of it. A stone that was rock solid yesterday may be loose tomorrow. Still get if people take the risk for doing the sports they love.
