“The environment we foster as coaches plays a significant role in developing intrinsic motivation and the mission of long-term speed development”. Appreciate the opportunity to write this article. https://t.co/18iMYeRufY via @SimpliFaster
How about lane 7, Miles Lewis from Coram, NY. 30yrs old, trains at local HS tracks & parking lots. Previous lifetime best was 6.74 8 yrs ago. Runs 6.65 at Boston U on Friday and today places 4th in 6.67 against a 🌎 class field. No sponsor, no 💰… just passion. #NYFAST

With the @MuscleLabSystem, @AthWestchester and @bigk28 were able to test 0-30m acceleration profiles at The Northeast Speed Summit. In addition to Peak Velocity 👀⬇️, we captured Peak Force & Peak Power over 0-30m.
Thank you @bigk28 and @AthWestchester for delivering high quality instruction, explanation and diagnostic testing with the @MuscleLabSystem to ALL the athletes at The Northeast Speed Summit!
Take a look at these observations from a collegiate strength & conditioning coach after his experience at The Northeast Speed Summit... in particular, #2. @MileSplitNY@milesplitct@TheRunningAcad@prospectnys @All_Northeast
For the first time in my career I was exposed to HIGH LEVEL track athletes. My main takeaways:
1) Track athletes move different then most team sport athletes when sprinting: fluid, coordinated & with intent
2) Training for track raises all tides of athletic development
Our Top 5 RSI readings from the rebound jump test at today’s Northeast Speed Summit also have the highest ranked track & field performances in the sprints and jumps among attendees. See Robert Blue below, who owns a PB of 16m (52-6) in the Triple Jump. @bigk28@speed_summit
The first and definitely not the last Speed Summit. Athletes learned that speed is a SKILL! Thanks to Bethel HS for allowing us to use their world class indoor Track & Field facility! @TheRunningAcad@MileSplitCT@MileSplitNY@bigk28@AthWestchester
Birds eye view of The Northeast Speed Summit. Miles Lewis, 100m PB of 10.37 testing a 30m acceleration using the @MuscleLabSystem. @bigk28 and I are digesting the data. Overall, an excellent experience of training and testing professional, collegiate and HS under the same roof.
Chart below of the outputs.
This gives a better understanding of what athletes are “fearless” in their acceleration vs deceleration abilities.
Not only is this a valuable performance assessment, but evaluating our breaking impulses, help prescribe a plan to reduce injury risk
