A beautiful piece written by Dr. @JRandallCurtis1's family about his last days and medical aid in dying.
He is so missed at @uwpccm and in the #PCCM community ❤️

Check out our new website educating health care providers on their rights when law enforcement officials are present in the healthcare settings. We can do more than we may think we can to advocate for our patients. Check it out. @MattGriffithMD@WesElyMD https://t.co/HJBSJtXjdV
His gentle smile, warmth, wise comments during crwip and his clear desire to always help us achieve our goals and figure out our values were so unique to Dr. Curtis. He will be so so missed but his legacy will live on forever. Love to my uw pccm family.
Dr. Randy Curtis @JRandallCurtis1 @uwpccm@UWMedicine, outstanding teacher, researcher, clinician & mentor in palliative care, died from ALS Feb. 6. He was exemplary in his dedication to family, students, patients & colleagues. His academic legacy: https://t.co/vZtVfbYvhU
@ajai_dandekar @uwpccm The absolute best! So lucky I got to spend so much time with Dr.Aitken, hard to express what a kind, warm and boisterous person she is.
Before Roe vs. Wade, hospitals had full septic abortion wards where poor desperate women ended up after unsafe abortion attempts, most died.
As an intensivist, I can’t imagine the horrors of watching young women die like this. Abortion rights are fundamental.
I always said I could never practice 🫀 in a state that didn’t allow abortion. The 1st person I saw die unexpectedly was a young woman w/ peripartum CM. She didn’t know. Some1 told her to follow up w/ Cardiology but didn’t explain why.
From public health standpoint, this will only increase the number of abortions that are performed under less than sanitary conditions. Ask people who grew up in countries with strict antiabortion laws
Reflecting on the challenges first-gen & #URIM mentees encounter @iwashyna and I wrote this piece. Thank you @JournalofGME! Mentoring First-Generation and Underrepresented in Medicine Physician-Scientists by Expanding Conversations https://t.co/OtczAtRWHH
Because I'm interested and I want to know everyone else's thoughts, this is going to be a mega thread on the new PFT interpretation guidelines coming from ERS/ATS.

I keep reading this courageous piece.
Please think of the heavy toll and immense harm that a lack of real mentorship, support and environment to thrive in can cause.
Please read this. Please evaluate your actions and do better. I promise this is not an isolated experience.
This is the most vulnerable piece I've ever written, sharing the details of my traumatic fellowship experience.
I feared its consequences, but I have a story worth telling & I hope my vulnerability can help others and promote culture change for trainees.

I was invited to give an MLK speech today and a small number of members of the group hosting me wrote and then leaked emails opposing my giving this speech, as it dishonored Dr. King for me to do so. They called me a "discredited activist" "unworthy of such association with King"
