@zachtratar First world founder problem lol. Getting rage baited into inadvertently platforming your competition, then watching them use .00635% of money raised to redesign website after the free marketing.
my non obvious insight for landing tech internships is to just rizz the shit out of your recruiter / hiring manager
i landed deepmind and amazon robotics (in 1 year) over other applicants on this principle alone
deepmind: no candidate (except me) was confident enough to ask the recruiter what topics the upcoming math interview covered. during our convo i made my recruiter feel as lighthearted as possible, and framed the ask as me valuing the opportunity and wanting to prepare as best as i can.
amazon robotics: recruiter reached out very close to the start date, i could sense she was trying to quickly find a replacement candidate for a roll last second. told her about a fake deadline for a startup offer i had and asked if i could interview fast. lo and behold, she took the opportunity to merge the 2 interview process into 1 just for me, and the rest was history
i was terrible at leetcode (still am) but it never mattered
recruiters talk to hundreds of awkward, transactional candidates every week. if you can make them genuinely enjoy interacting with you, you will be pleasantly surprised with how far that alone takes you
