The ending is honestly brutal when you think about what Bryan actually went through. This guy spends the entire movie protecting that package because he genuinely believes he’s delivering something important to the hospital, only to find out that he’s been carrying the final piece needed to make the cure.
And then the moment he finally gets it where it needs to go, he’s already infected beyond the point of saving.
That’s what makes the ending so cruel. Bryan basically does everything they needed him to do, survives the outbreak long enough to deliver the component, and then becomes another casualty of the same experiment the scientists are desperately trying to fix.
I also think the scientists treating him like a problem instead of a person makes the ending hit harder. From their perspective, he’s an infected subject standing between them and the cure. From Bryan’s perspective, he’s just a terrified guy who has spent the entire movie trying to survive and get that package delivered.
The irony is insane: the person carrying the ingredient that could save Raccoon City is the person who ultimately can’t be saved by it.
And if that was intentional, Bryan’s story is less about being a hero and more about being another forgotten casualty of Umbrella’s mistakes. He wasn’t chosen for this. He wasn’t prepared for it. He was just the wrong person in the wrong place carrying the right package.
That’s a genuinely tragic way to end a Resident Evil story.
The fact that I cried over a man reading a letter instead of what was basically a high budget cologne ad for a funeral speaks volumes about the Lanterns writing
So none of the alien lanterns came? They made Hal into an a-hole but he is not. He is a hero. And John in the comics is loyal to him, but here he beats him up and hates his guts? Why does everyone hate him in the show when he stopped the manhunter? And he was jailed for stopping a homicidal robot? I literally have no idea why they are disrespecting the GOAT in this series at every episode. #Lanterns
my one beef with Aaron Pierre’s performance as John Stewart was that he didn’t feel like the cartoon John Stewart I grew up with and then they flash forwarded to an older version of him with the goatee and I was immediately like “holy shit it’s John Stewart”
