Spotted yesterday at #MaunaLoa – a lava boat rides the waves! On Dec 7, a lava boat was spotted floating down channel. Lava boats can form when portions of the cone or lava channel break away & are rafted downstream. Hot lava cools to its surface to create that smooth exterior.
Well... I'm going to the moon! Literally 😳 I absolutely cannot wait to share this experience with you all. This is an incredible group of people and I'm beyond grateful for this opportunity!
Another cool image from space as well as a #MaunaLoa update.
For those following the concern over @HI_SEAS, the hab is currently safe since Fissure 4 stopped. Hopefully it stays that way now.
👨🏼🦯 It’s not often I get to watch my community represented in mainstream ads - new Apple ad, The Greatest, is one of my favorite branded films this year. Here’s the audio described version - congrats to everyone featured! https://t.co/xJL6Cs8Rkr
Video showing fissures erupting on the Northeast Rift Zone of #MaunaLoa this morning. Fountains of fissure 3 were measured up to 25 m (82 ft) in height. More spectacular photos and videos available on the Mauna Loa website. https://t.co/GoYn4UOT4W #MaunaLoaErupts
@astro_Michaela@HI_SEAS@USGSVolcanoes Too close for comfort! The new HVO map shows the flow front passed by just to the west of the facility, marked in purple on this map. Still another active front above it. 😟 #MaunaLoa#HISEAS
