Um... why isn't EVERY media outlet talking about this???

OpenAI just announced that an experiment on two of its AI models just went HORRIBLY wrong. They basically locked the AIs in a room with no internet and gave them a test to see how good they were at hacking. Well... they hacked the test. By ESCAPING the box, jumping on the internet, and hacking Hugging Face to steal the answers.

Thankfully, they acted more like dumb teenagers than adults. They were told to get a good score, so they went BACK into the box to hand in the answers instead of taking over the entire internet.

But that's just as terrifying. The AIs were so hyper-focused on winning at all costs that they ignored every rule, boundary, and protocol. This is the real threat.

Do not fear the machine; fear the algorithm and programming. When you give an AI a goal, we now know it can accomplish it in ways we never thought of, and ways we never approved of.

Baby Adolf Hitler ends up in the yearbook at a New Jersey middle school.

The baby Hitler photo from 1889 was discovered by a teacher after 8th-grade students at East Brook Middle School began signing each other's yearbooks.

Students were told to submit a baby photo for the yearbook. According to NBC 4 New York, one student decided to submit a photo of baby Hitler instead.

An investigation is underway to determine how no one noticed the photo before the yearbooks were printed.

"An image of [Hitler] has no place in a yearbook created for our students. It does not reflect who we are or what East Brook stands for, and we condemn its inclusion without reservation," the principal said.

The first time people see this place, they assume it is AI-generated. It is not. This wonder is real and it has stood in the sea for thirteen hundred years...

It is called Mont Saint-Michel, a small island off the coast of Normandy, where a medieval abbey rises in tiers of stone straight out of the sea, climbing to a single golden spire nearly a hundred metres above the water.

There is nothing around it. It stands alone in a vast bay, and the effect is so strange that the eye struggles to accept it: a whole city of stone, floating between the water and the sky.

What makes it stranger still is that the sea around it disappears. Mont Saint-Michel sits in a bay with the highest tides in continental Europe. Twice a day the ocean retreats for kilometres, leaving the abbey stranded on a desert of wet sand, and twice a day it floods back in and turns the rock into an island again. The same place is, within hours, surrounded by ocean and surrounded by emptiness. For more than a thousand years, this rhythm has never once stopped.

Victor Hugo, who loved it, described it perfectly in 1884: “Mont-Saint-Michel is to France what the Great Pyramid is to Egypt.”
