Congratulations to Matt Burns on his retirement from the Supreme Court Historic Preservation Commission! Burns joined the staff of the Commission in 2009 as Outreach & Development Coordinator and was promoted to Director of Administration in 2012. He will be missed!
The installation for Meghan Harmon at the Chatham Area Public Library's newly finished Backyard filled my heart with such joy. Meghan would have loved this. It perfectly exemplifies her passion for reading, history and volunteering and I'm excited that generations will experience wonder through the installation resembling the light and beauty she brought to the world. Thank you to all who donated to the Friends of the Chatham Area Public Library to make this memorial possible!
For those of you in eastern Illinois, I will be at the Marshall Public Library in Marshall, Illinois this Thursday. I’ll be talking about Abraham Lincoln’s most infamous legal case. Hope to see you there!
Thanks JTHS Foundation for supporting JT West & Central Rho Kappa’s annual Springfield trip. We visited the state capitol, IL Supreme Court, Lincoln’s Museum, & Lincoln’s Tomb. Highlight of the trip was the tour of the IL Supreme Court building with two awesome state historians.
We're looking forward to the annual ALA banquet and symposium on Saturday, February 15!
Don't miss out on presentations from scholars & keynote from Professor Michael Burlingame, former ALA president and the foremost living scholar of Lincoln. https://t.co/A2FrJwOCh7

I had a great Illinois Statehood Day in Chicago talking with @wttw about the role Illinois played in the Civil War. Providing commentary to @KenBurns Civil War documentary was surreal. I saw it on PBS when it premiered 34 years ago! Thanks @SkyZLimit365 for being a great host!
. @realDonaldTrump gets the Lincoln children mixed up during his interview with @joerogan today. Their son Tad lived until 1871. They did lose their 11-year-old little boy Willie on Feb. 20, 1862. He remains the only child of a president to die in the White House.
President Trump, America's History Buff, explains to Joe Rogan that President Lincoln was very depressed because he lost his beloved son, Tad.
Thomas "Tad" Lincoln died 6 years after Lincoln's death.
@aaroncburke423 What would you like to say about the Gore Vidal novel? Do you think it reveals the real Mary Lincoln in a way Randall, Baker, Clinton, Burlingame, Emerson, etc. missed?
