One of Bangladesh's interim government's great successes was managing its relationship with the U.S. From the start, the Yunus Administration prioritized the relationship with the U.S., and early diplomatic and tangible support from the Biden Administration helped during the critical stabilization phase post-August 8.

Many feared that the second Trump Administration would not continue its predecessor's policy of supporting Bangladesh's democratic transition. By moving swiftly to engage with senior Trump Administration officials, the IG was able to understand Washington's priorities and develop a strategy to advance both countries interests. America First met Bangladesh First.

Over the past year, the U.S. - Bangladesh relationship has continued to flourish. The recent arrival of a new U.S. Ambassador was well timed to position the U.S. to engage quickly with the new government post-February 12. Today's signing of a bilateral agreement on reciprocal trade provides a firm foundation for further expansion of the relationship. It also places Bangladesh at a competitive advantage to those countries who have yet to conclude agreements with the U.S.

Credit goes to the teams in Dhaka and Washington who worked tirelessly to achieve these results. Both Bangladeshi and American citizens will benefit from the trade agreement and continued close ties between our two countries.

Yunus says #bangladesh will have elections in Dec 2025 or June 2026, depending on how much reform the people want.

Well, you cannot do too much additional reform in extra 6 months anyway. What difference does that make?

So, Yunus should leave the pretense of reforms, and go for election by Dec 2025.
