@Stopworkplacebu Workplace bullying did not just worry me, I think it got to my GP too. Given how many of their patients likely worked for the same employer I guess workload might have looked unsustainable.
@EurosafeLimited Totally, provided both sides fully engage. The case being proved so succesfully it was made law. Safety representatives, representatives of employee safety or both stand up and take a bow.
@BritSafe For many years my employers health and safety policy proclaimed "we offer a no blame safety culture". Then we got a new CEO who changed this to "open safety culture" - there were a number of suggestions as to what this meant - "open reporting?" "open to interpretation", etc.
@davidgcant Imagine to refusing to share them as much as possible with the employees health and safety representatives. They might just come to the conclusion management are trying to hide something. GDPR does not override the health and safety at work act
We have just kicked off a seminar on asbestos at @the_TUC with union health & safety reps.
First up is Sam Lord, @H_S_E inspector on what the current regulatory framework is and what reps should expect from employers.
Given the suggestion of one health and safety representative for every 50 staff then perhaps not the most comforting of statistics. Perhaps though it says something about perception.
The average number of workers who say they have read their workplace policies:
health and safety policy — 6%
annual leave policy — 96%
If you’re not kept safe at work you might not be enjoying your holiday!
@safetyculture When we raised the issue of stress at work the safety leader tried to pass thr buck, the senior leaders just said it was within their risk appetite. Meanwhile staff got sick and burned out. A great recipe for a toxic culture. Eyes wide shut.
If someone works for an organisation that is trying to force everyone back to the office - well you could always make a statutory flexible working request - after all if you do not ask it is unlikely you will get.
