Boss, increase petrol price all you want. I understand it's needed.
But just stop adding ethanol to it.
I'll pay for the ethanol also, no probs.
Just give it to me on the side.
If this statement is true, it is astonishing arrogance.
I have said this before and I will say it again:
The tunnel road project is a millionaire’s project for the benefit of millionaires.
The ordinary Bengalurean pays for it through taxes, loses public money that should have gone to buses and Metro, and is then told not to use it if he cannot pay the toll.
Nothing captures elitism better.
Bengaluru needs public transport, not private luxury corridors.
We are fighting against this in the court, we will fight it out on the streets as well.
People of Karnataka need to be worried. There'll be a Congress govt in Kerala.
This means more diversion of funds to Kerala as our leaders are obedient to their masters.
Bandipura forest in danger
The primary reason to Bengaluru’s traffic crisis is bad planning and lack of coordination.
There is an urgent need to institutionalise BMLTA. The state government and its Urban Development Department have lost focus on this.
While we empower BMLTA, the priority should also be on accelerating MRTS, which can move far more people, & faster.
The metro projects accross the city have been delayed- the Red line due to conflict of alignment with Car Centric Tunnel Road. Pink and Airport line work continue to lag.
The Government of Karnataka must move away from car-centric infrastructure and focus on mass transport solutions.
We’ve seen this again and again, more roads, whether elevated or underground, don’t reduce traffic, they only relocate it and, in fact, worsen it by inducing more cars and private vehicles.

Yesterday, five of us traveled from Nagasandra to Srirampura using the Namma Metro, which cost us ₹300. We then spent another ₹80 on an auto to travel 1.5 km to reach our destination. Imagine paying close to ₹400 just to travel 5–7 km, it's an insane amount.
The metro fare is significantly high. Considering the notorious Goraguntepalya traffic jam, we chose the metro, as traveling by cab or bus would have taken at least an extra hour on the road.
From what I have read about fare fixation in other cities, metro fares should be no more than 1.5 times the bus fare. A report published in Moneycontrol reiterates the importance of affordable public transport.
Poor last-mile connectivity and high metro fares are hurting commuters. It’s high time the Metro board reduces fares, improves last-mile connectivity, and finds alternative ways to generate funds and mobilize resources. BCG are experts in that 😉

When you go to Japan and see their Prime Minister waiting for space to join the traffic and come back to India and see, a municipal corporator surrounded by dozens of people in many vehicles, definitely the heart pains.
I've not given up on India. At the same time, as is my view, I'm not very bullish on India too. Not that we would not grow. We would chug along. For us to grow and aim to become developed nation, lot of change in complete mindset is required. Not sure whether we are capable for it as a nation.
Bengaluru's green cover has fallen from 78% to 6%, its natural cooling systems are gone, and the city is baking.

Every year I have the same grouse. Please let everyone know the exact logic for the IPL Fair Play award.
And if it is only dependent on the points given to teams by umpires without any backing explanation, please also publish the top umpire ratings, as each captain is required to rate the umpires at the end of a match.
Mysuru City Corporation’s rollback of its road user fee, after public outrage, is a textbook lesson in how not to design urban taxes. Legal validity alone cannot rescue a policy that is arbitrary, unscientific, and imposed without public consultation. ⚠️

A corporate employee earning ₹50,000 per month can’t afford a ₹10 lakh car even after 10 years.
But a minister earning ₹1.5 lakh per month buys a ₹1 crore car every year.
This is a scam in Indian democracy.
This is true not just of Kolkata and Guwahati, but in varying degrees for all the grounds in India, and around the world. The system to put on covers and protect the ground from rain and remove them efficiently is still basically unchanged since the 70s.
Given that each IPL match is worth about Rs 115 crores just in media rights, probably 150 crores all told, there has to be a better way to do this.
We have the finest engineers, and most of them would be delighted to help. This is definitely solvable if the BCCI decides to go after it. And it probably should!
Nitin Gadkari ji says "A new AI-driven toll system will capture photos of number plates & deduct toll amount directly from bank accounts".
So why can’t we use same technology to capture photos of potholes & deduct salaries of govt employees?
Accountability can't be one sided!
How on earth can you develop such great skills in your early teens? How many hours of practice this kid would’ve put for years, to master those shots?
