Just been reading the details for the Northern Powerhouse Rail proposals announced in the Kings Speech. The message for the North East seems to be “Good news, your region will be connected to the new shiny thing… eventually… by continuing to use the old railway.” #disappointed
Britain is a place where a Prime Minister who has lost his authority and who everyone hates is trying to ram through legislation (outlined in the King’s Speech) on something that no one voted for, no one needs and no one wants - digital ID. Absolutely disgraceful abuse of power.
@amuse@ScottyTyneside I appreciate this isn’t your typical Fox News report and therefore may be hard to grasp, but absolutely nothing reported on there was untrue. In fact the only thing untrue about your tweet was your false claim the BBC is pushing a narrative that the US has been defeated.
@DPJHodges@Edwina_Currie In fairness we don’t need an aircraft carrier in the Med as we have two airbases in Cyprus to fly from. We seemingly have a hard enough time defending them at the moment.
Elmo knows there are big, exciting things ahead for you! Remember, whether you are near or far, Elmo loves you and is cheering for you every step of the way. ❤️
@NileGardiner I’d take no notice. It’s a clear “leak” from Number 10 to try and take some of the attention away from the Prime Minister being up the proverbial
@ian693 Oh Ian I’m so sorry to hear that. I’d been hoping for a much better result. You’ve people from all over the world rooting and praying for you. Get on that bull named Fu Manchu for now and I’ll see you when we get to the Superbowl - In about 10 years time!
@AaronBastani The missiles are not “leased” though, Aaron. That claim is disingenuous. The UK bought into a shared pool of missiles. The ones we currently have in service *are* operationally independent. Does that mean we shouldn’t be pursuing a fully independent deterrent? No.
@bmitori@archer_rs Actually, the use of the F35B’s has nothing to do with the size of the carriers. They’re plenty big enough. It was because, like the Invisible Class before them, STOVL was preferred over cats and traps.
@SamQualls12@jptsnappy@archer_rs The UK does not “lease” the Trident delivery system. It bought into a shared pool of missiles, of which we draw down from. The Trident’s currently in service can be used completely independently of any other nation.
Could the USA prevent future draw-downs? Potentially, yes.
@stewak2@pinstripedline@go_demarest Yes, he was my grandfathers CO aboard HMS Aurora and was very highly regarded by his men. Sad end to an otherwise very successful career.
@RichardEHagen1@MikeDay25598564@NavyLookout 2. Change of Registry: If the shipowner officially completes the administrative process to move the vessel from one national registry to another (e.g., moving from the Marshall Islands to Panama).
@RichardEHagen1@MikeDay25598564@NavyLookout 1. Real Transfer of Ownership: If the ship is sold to a new owner who is a national of (or based in) a different country, the flag can be changed to reflect that new ownership.
@JMRphin I consistently defended Tannehill for years over this. That man took beating after beating because they never put a decent OL in front of him - yet he got up and fought on every single time.
