@hamhammer27 Because John Coates (IOC Vice-President) basically saved the Tokyo Olympics, and therefore the IOC higher ups felt the need to return the favour. As for Brisbane - the AOC has wanted Brisbane as a host city since 92, at the expense of particularly Melbourne.
@wjm13_@KosSamaras Depends on how sectarian the candidate will end up being I guess?
Alternatively, they could ride a wave on vibes before people realise what they've done, which is possibly what may cause some trouble for one or two teals.
@hamhammer27 Only time we should see the children of an MP is on the election night podium, and the Christmas card.
Spouse should also be entitled to that level of publicity should they want it, and several do (some don't, and in which case the scrutiny should be proportional).
@kevinbonham Aren't most single issue polls, if not poll shaped objects, at least treat with heavy scepticism? Could be wrong, would appreciate your view.
@kevinbonham Wasn't that an issue for her last time as well? I seem to recall that of the teals she was the one that was the closest to being third. Could be very wrong.
Bad take by @Mon4Kooyong. No other body in Australia has the evidence-gathering power of an RC. And the RC made referrals for further prosecution, which take time to conduct. To say NACC is broken because of not investigating something already investigated is absurd. #auspol
The Robodebt Royal Commission report described a tragic saga of ‘venality, incompetence and cowardice.’
It’s hard to understand how the NACC decided last week that further action on this is “not in the public interest”.
Feels like it *is* in the public interest.
Either RedBridge or Resolve has a polling error on ALP Primary - ALP 28 Resolve on 18th May, ALP 35 according to Redbridge.
There hasn't been enough for the ALP to have regained 7 points on primary, especially at state level #vicpol
@libmodimelb @KosSamaras@rachelrwithers I don't have the stats in front of me, but if I had to guess, if you incorporate the higher number of apartments in Toorak built in the 60's and 70's that are generally cheaper than Brunswick apartments, there's an argument. I don't find it a compelling one though.
