Interesting Fact: Schools can also benefit from The Return and Earn Program by registering to be a donation partner where people can donate their funds to the school. the school can also collect their own cans/bottles to raise money https://t.co/ECdhrcqzIw #UoNTeach
@Ryan5Edwards I really like this idea by creating posters, students are going to grow their knowledge of the topic eg protection of the ocean. When displaying them in a public place they will also inform the public that reads them. #UoNTeach
@jonaharmstrong7@jonaharmstrong7 another great book to use in the classroom is Compost Stew by Mary Mckenna Siddals. it teaches students what sort of food scraps can go into a compost. #UoNTeach
@DeAnnaliese I like this questionnaire as it will make students aware of how much energy they are wasting with simple things such as leaving the light on when you leave a room. this would also link to #SDG12 with responsible consumption of power #UoNTeach
@JohnCronin98 composting is a great way to responsibly dispose of our waste after consumption. an awesome book to teach students about composting is Compost Stew by Mary Mckenna Siddals. #UoNTeach#SDG12
Compost Stew by Mary Mckenna Siddals is a book I will definitely think about using in my unit. It teaches the students different things that they can put into their own compost garden at home with examples from the letters of the alphabet. #SDG12#UoNTeach https://t.co/GDkYHYgntS
@Ryan5Edwards an initiative by Water NSW is the water watch program. Schools can apply to borrow the testing kits so when they visit places such as the Hunter Wetlands they can test the water quality. #UoNTeach#sustainability https://t.co/g6qGOoiLP0
@max_searlo great initiative by the Lake Macquarie council. Its great to see so many young children getting involved with the activities. local awareness is so important and by displaying these events on the local news we as a community can do more for our local area #UoNTeach#sustainability
The hunter wetlands centre is an amazing place. On school excursions to the wetlands the students get a guided tour to learn about not only water quality and wildlife but what how humans are impacting on the local habitat #UoNTeach#SDG12#recycling https://t.co/wfLruU8vbu
This is a great way to #recycle materials for students artwork in the classroom. What other materials could we use to create our artworks in primary schools? #UoNTeach
@callamhutley what a great idea. you could also ask the students to pretend they are the item they found and create an interesting journey that the item took to end up where they found it. #UoNTeach
This would be a great video to show my students when teaching them about #SDG12 responsible consumption of water. Only 3% of the worlds water is drinkable and this is not only a problem for Australians but the whole world. #UoNTeach https://t.co/3F15cUGCXL
@CodySomerville5 thanks @CodySomerville5 i think is important to teach our students about their decisions from an early age so they develop good habits can make informed decisions on their own values
Who wants to swim in waters like these? Images like this will help make students aware of why we need to responsibly take care of our own waste so it doesn't end up in water ways like this #SDG12#UoNteach
Our ocean, river and coastline cleanup methods vary depending on where we’re cleaning that day and what the conditions are like. We often refer to these methods as boats, boots, and booms. You can read more about these cleanup methods at https://t.co/GtctPKV4PI
I plan to show to my students during the implementation of my unit of work on #SDG12. From 3:48-7:17 it talks about the process of production and consumption and why it is so important to #Recycle. https://t.co/ClnQH4BfIi #UoNTeach#sustainability
#SDG12 looks at responsible production and consumption. for cities such as Newcastle that lie on the coast this would be a great initiative to reduce the amount of fossil fuels such as coal being used to power our homes. #sustainability#UoNTeach
@callamhutley Great resource @callamhutley students would love these cartoons because they are easy to read and inform them about all of the sustainable development goals. Teachers could even use these as posters around their classroom as a prompt to remind students when using the goals
This is an awesome example of how we can reduce the amount of rubbish in our ecosystems by using biodegradable materials. This will also reduce our carbon output in the process #UoNTeach#SDG12#sustainability
Here is a sustainable option for plastic bottles of water. These bottles are made from paper, which is a biodegradable and renewable resource. Here is a picture I took in my local grocery store today.
🤔🚰NAME A SUSTAINABLE IDEA OR PRODUCT?
@callamhutley @mccloy_russell I agree with @callamhutley this way the students will be able to see the changes they are making and also the consequences to their local environment
