@BurnsTiarna Thank you for sharing this citation! I believe this comment reflects the importance of outdoor learning and how it can have a positive positive impact on students’ engagement in education within nature.
@AbbeyDean6 Great post! I agree that students can benefit from cleaning up their school a few minutes a day or even once a week! They will be contributing to sustainability of their school and demonstrating knowledge of waste disposal.
@Jpod91 I definitely agree this is a good idea! Not only it will influence the students to be competitive and committed, but they will be learning and demonstrating valuable skills for life in relation to recycling!
@Ryan5Edwards Yes Ryan, students need to understand that some of our waste materials can end up in the ocean and potentially harm #lifebelowwater. To respond to this, students can identify ways on how we can stop this.
@standing_nick Great video to share with the class about the potential of water being polluted, if we don’t put our rubbish in the bin. It will influence them to make good choices in relation to waste and recycling!
@callamhutley Excellent! Students need to be aware of appropriate waste management and this practical approach is a great way for students to demonstrate safe strategies regarding waste.
@lachlan967 You’re absolutely right Lachlan! These ‘junk’ materials can be used as resources for games and also for teaching students the importance of recycling. Students in the class would love to engage in activities using these materials.
@jonaharmstrong7 Great find! I like how the school is implementing practices to respond to climate change. Reducing plastic objects in schools is a good way to promote sustainability. Excellent!
@janczuk_liam@UN_SDG This is a great example of how students can apply creative and critical thinking about the topic of sustainability. The project also encourages students to have their own opinion about what they can do to help! Good stuff Liam!
@CarlieSjostedt Excellent Carlie! All of these books seem engaging and spread an important message about caring and preserving our environment, which therefore promotes sustainability! #UoNTeach
This is a great activity that directly links to #SDG13, involving a practical element to engage students and a writing task to consolidate understanding! Teaching students #ClimateAction has become more important in the 21st Century then it ever has been! #UoNTeach
Great work from Italy! Students in the 21st Century need to learn the concept of #climatechange, then apply this educational initiative from Italy in the outside world and contribute to sustainability and #SDG13#UoNTeach
Important climate leadership from #Italy: Country plans to be first to make #ClimateEducation compulsory for schools in boost for #ClimateAction ➡️ https://t.co/5D2dQEAkKV
Education and training are crucial for #ParisAgreement implementation #ACEnow
Here is a great link that features a lot of information about how primary school students can respond to climate change. This includes interactive activities about energy sources, greenhouse effect, weather, fossil fuels, etc. Go check it out! #UoNTeach#SDG13
This could be a great idea for students in the classroom to apply their creative thinking skills towards #ClimateAction! The use of LEGO to create a mini film would engage students to simulate what #SDG13 and sustainability may look like in the real world! #UoNTeach
#NYCJuniorAmbassadors were busy filming their LEGO movie on Climate Change today! They can’t wait to use this teaching tool to inform our elementary and middle school students on this issue and discuss how/why to engage in climate action! 🌎 #PetridesProud#inspireD31#UNxNYC
@callamhutley This is a great resource! I agree that students can become Eco Warriors by learning about the negative effects of plastic and make sustainable contributions.
I have linked a video that students can watch to gain some tips about how their family and themselves can reduce their carbon footprint at home. Let me know what you think? #UoNTeach#ClimateAction https://t.co/MXGRPg6oPm
This is a great book to read to a classroom! Students in the 21st Century can engage in this book and learn about plastics and how it can effect the earth. They can also discuss with their peers what #action they can take to help sustain the environment. #UoNTeach
A Planet Full of Plastic is our Children's NF Book of the Month! Our world is drowning in plastic & it's a big problem. Author-illustrator @LaytonNeal explains where plastic comes from, why it doesn't biodegrade & why that's dangerous. He's also full of ideas for how you can help
Discussing with students about some of these ways of reducing the carbon footprint and taking #ClimateAction, will allow students to think about how these strategies can promote a sustainable future. #UoNTeach
It seems crazy to think that 94% of us still make at least one recycling mistake! As teachers, it is important to educate our students on what materials can be recycled in order to sustain the environment! #UoNTeach
Contamination happens when items that shouldn’t be put in the recycling bin get mixed in with recyclable items. This can lead to more materials going to landfill.
Avoid this by following the #AustralasianRecyclingLabel - it tells you which bit goes in which bin. Easy!
