If Sal has a million fans, then I am one of them. If Sal has ten fans, then I am one of them. If Sal has only one fan then that is me. If Sal has no fans, then that means I am no longer on earth. If the world is against Sal, then I am against the world.
A few things I'm thinking about after waking up from that #Reds win:
Sandy Alcantara was two outs away from a second consecutive complete game shutout, not allowing a run or an extra-base hit for his third straight start. He was about to register a back-to-back ‘Maddux’, a complete game shutout in fewer than 100 pitches. The Reds won the game.
That seems like at least the 3rd-4th game they have won that they would have lost last season.
They scored four runs in the 10th inning, after scoring just 9 runs in 15 extra inning games last season.
Veteran Nathaniel Lowe punched a go-ahead RBI single the other way….on an 0-2 pitch in the 10th. Elly slapped the go-ahead hit the other way on Sunday.
The Reds scored on a sacrifice fly and wild pitch to tie the game in the 9th.
That’s a five game winning streak. Their season high win streak last season was five, accomplished four times.
Matt McLain doubled in the 9th, and again in the 10th.
They are 2-0 in extra innings after going 3-12 last season.
Early on, Alcantara reminded me of Roy Halladay in Game 1 of the 2010 playoffs vs Reds.
Pierce Johnson inherited/escaped a bases-loaded, one out mess in the 6th.
