I am a US citizen & Surgeon who took care of the Boston Maraton Bombing victims in 2013. I paid for 7 years to own a small apartment in downtown #Beirut for my 3 kids to enjoy summers there. Today, #Israel reduced my dream home to rubble, with american weapons, paid by my taxes.
Javier Bardem is wearing a patch protesting the war in Iran—“No a la Geurra,” it reads—that he said is the same patch he wore in 2003 to protest “the illegal war of Iraq.”
“And here we are, 23 years after,” he said on the #Oscars red carpet, with another war “[led] by Trump and Netanyahu, and creating a lot of damage and innocent people being killed and bombed.”
He also wore a pin with a drawing of Handala, a character created Palestinian newspaper cartoonist Naji al-Ali in 1969, a 10-year-old boy who cannot grow until he is allowed to return to his homeland. Ali was 10 years old when his own family was exiled from their home in Palestine in the Nakba of 1948.

People who claim Palestine is their land because their ancestors supposedly lived there 4000 years ago have a problem with the daughter of Syrian immigrants identifying as Syrian. Can’t make this shit up
The people who say Palestine is theirs and they're indigenous to it because their ancestors allegedly came from there 100000000 years are mad that Mamdani's wife says she's Damascene while her family immigrated from Syria for a better life when she was 10
Israel and the US started an illegal, unprovoked war on Iran, carpet bombing one of the most populous cities in the world, bombing schools, hospitals and civilian infrastructure, and killing civilians including kids.
This is how Western media normalizes war crimes and empire.
Imagine if Iran had murdered 160 little Israeli girls in the first hours of the war. It would have been the-worst-attack-on-Jews-since-the-Holocaust again. As it is, brown little girls and all, it's back page news.
This is the image that will define this war - 165 young Iranian girls, killed while at school, who are mere ‘collateral damage’ to an out of control US-Israeli war machine.
There is no greater evidence of the utter failure of the United Nations than the fact that 23 years have passed since Bush's Iraq War and governments are still justifying unilateral attacks on sovereign nations as "pre-emptive"
