@CateTV@morganlinton I am not, but looks like we are doing pretty much the same things every day - custom private eval/benchmarking system, optimal model routing for fablemaxxing. he earns my follow, thanks for the great rec as usual @catetv
almost 3hrs executing and verifying the same plan, clocking in at $603.37 in raw API costs. fable 5 is literally magic, and literally nobody can afford it. tokenmax the shit out of this while you still can (june 22 they remove it from claude max subscription).
two prompts to run for my fellow fabelmaxxers -
"we are using fable in claude code now. so we need to pull in the latest changes from compound engineering and make sure our compound engineering setup is optimized for fable - https://t.co/lb0iD8kpsM... we also need to persist our flip of disable-model-invocation=true to false on https://t.co/duqwpn2nTK (and likely elsewhere too), as we want to opimize the delegation of certain tasks to codex cli gpt-5.5 xhigh (or sometimes sonnet, haiku, opus, etc)."
then run -
"is there anything else we can do with my claude code setup to further optimize for fablemaxxing and optimal model routing? Check default model in .claude/settings.json, check pinned vs inherited models in subagent frontmatter and optimize for a balance of high-performance and fablemaxxing. Also add a tight model routing section to my global claude.md files"
optimal fablemaxxing setup. carry on ๐ช
@slugsoftware@jturntdev are you just telling it "use opus and sonnet and haiku opportunistically to reduce token usage" or is there some actual setup/guardrails you have to do?
even better to specify which model to use on a per-subagent basis (you can even have it delegate work out to codex cli and let fable use your chatgpt sub)
A $200 Claude Max subscription lasts 90 minutes using Claude Fable 5.
Do not use subagents when using Claude Fable 5.
That is what drains your usage.
With 3 Claude Max subscriptions I can vibe code in my normal vibe coding workflow with no limits using Claude Fable.
How are you feeling about the usage limits?
@twocommapauper projects is just a folder - create a new folder, run claude code out of there. you can build an assisted research cockpit that is way more powerful than anything possible on their web ui (and you can just say 'continue' when it fails rather than losing ~15% of your weekly limit)
can you tell on this chart where Fable 5 released? burns through limits 5-6x quicker than Opus 4.8. crazy powerful, wicked smaht - but too expensive for a daily driver.
only available via subscription til June 22, so use it while you can. the era of free tokens is coming to an end. tokenmax while you still can ๐ช
my flow is compound-engineering ideation > brainstorm > plan in Fable 5, then write the code with codex, review with opus 4.8, fix with codex, push live.
Poke's system prompt finally leaked.
I once spent 30 minutes bargaining with it over price. it wouldn't budge, roasted me for lowballing, and i genuinely thought a person was messing with me.
After reading that prompt, every human thing it did was just a line in there. the roasting. the stubbornness. the lowercase.
so the personality was never really Poke's. drop that prompt into almost any agent and it'll feel just as alive.
That's the valuable part. not the bot. the recipe.
Iโd never buy property in Tuscany because I donโt trust the EU or Italian Govt to actually enforce my property rights over long periods of time.
Maybe true, maybe not true. But I donโt have time to research and find out. I just wonโt buy property there.
One of the reasons USA is so rich. People from other countries trust USA to enforce their own property rights over their own hometown Govt. Or anywhere else in the world.
As long as USA maintains that brand, it will continue to attract international investors to buy property and store wealth there.
Someone is selling an entire hill in Tuscany. 45 hectares, for โฌ1.3M ($1.5M).
That's 111 acres of southern Tuscan countryside with a 500mยฒ stone farmhouse on top, 9 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, a pool, and an outdoor wood-burning oven.
The estate sits at 400m altitude on a privately owned hill near Saturnia, 8 km from the famous thermal baths and 50 km from the Tyrrhenian Sea. The farmhouse was built in the early 1800s by the Piccolomini Counts as the steward's residence for what was once a much larger estate. The current 45 hectares break down as 37 ha of woodland, 7 ha of arable land, and 1 ha of olive grove with 50 trees. It borders a nature park and the Albenga River.
What makes the price interesting is the land. 45 hectares fully consolidated and bordering a protected park is rare at this level in Tuscany. Most farmhouses in this price range come with 1-3 hectares of land. Here you're buying the hill itself.
The trade-off is access. You're 160 km from Rome airport and 200 km from Pisa, so this isn't a fly-in-for-the-weekend kind of place. Then again, if you're buying a hill in Tuscany, being hard to reach is probably the point.
How much would something like this cost where you live?
itโs in gemini, just create it in ai studio. oh, thatโs for your personal google one account. for workspace you need gemini business. no, not gemini advanced, thatโs ai pro now. unless you need ai ultra. oh agents? you do that in spark actually. no, not gemini api managed agents, thatโs different. for coding use jules. unless you mean the agentic ide, thatโs antigravity. no, thatโs the old antigravity, download the new one. actually gemini cli is being deprecated, use antigravity cli. no the flash model is smarter than the pro model. unless you need pro. if itโs video, use flow. no, flow uses veo. no, nano banana is images. actually thatโs in gemini now. unless youโre in search, then itโs ai mode. no, research is notebooklm. anyway itโs all very simple.
Personal update: I've joined Anthropic. I think the next few years at the frontier of LLMs will be especially formative. I am very excited to join the team here and get back to R&D. I remain deeply passionate about education and plan to resume my work on it in time.
