AI isn't replacing your job. Your job is being sacrificed to build infrastructure that hasn't proven it delivers value yet. But sure — blame the robots. That's a better headline.
Oh no, AI is taking our jobs again 😱 Oracle just laid off 30,000 people — 18% of its workforce. Then hired a new CFO with a $29.7M package. Priorities. But here's the part nobody's talking about:
⬇️
Why? Because Oracle: • Owes banks ~$100B • Spends $50B/year on AI data centers • Is betting on a $300B OpenAI deal starting in 2027
Banks stopped lending. So Oracle cut people to fund servers.
Imagine this: you wake up and your entire cloud infrastructure is locked. No access to your servers, databases, or backups. No explanation, no timeline, just silence.
That's been my reality for 4 days now with @digitalocean 😶
What happened? Someone sent an abuse complaint about a website I haven't managed since July 2022. I transferred it to another user years ago. The complaint has no court order, no case number, nothing legal behind it. The URLs they're complaining about don't even point to my servers anymore, they redirect to a completely different site.
And yet my entire account is frozen. Not just the resource in question, everything. 🔒
Here's the worst part: DigitalOcean warned me they may delete all my data in 10 days. But I can't log in to save it. I can't export backups. I can't even see what's there. The clock is ticking on data I'm not allowed to touch. ⏳
I've been asking support for days. No ETA. No escalation. No path forward. Ticket #11664032.
If this can happen to me over a baseless complaint from 2018 about infrastructure I don't even control, it can happen to any of you. 👀

@digitalocean@levelsio No no no guys don’t even try to play innocent. Four days your support team “explained” my lockout with a fake 2018 complaint email. But the moment this was made public within minutes, not after four days of silence it turned out I’d been blocked because of where I’m from.
The support team showed me an email they received. It literally said: “My {former client’s name} wrote something negative about us, please block it.” There were no links to a court decision or any other supporting documents.
What is ironic is that the email referenced a general decision from Ukraine’s highest court stating that the website, not the provider, is responsible for handling these types of complaints 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
@digitalocean So basically — if you host on DigitalOcean, anyone can write that you're "bad" and they'll shut your business down. No verification. No due process.
@digitalocean restore my access immediately. Ticket #2191687
An epic story:
→ You've been a @digitalocean customer for 10 years
→ One day they block you along with other Ukrainian accounts
→ Support goes silent for 3 days
→ You buy the $99 support plan with a 2-hour ETA
→ You get: "no ETA has been provided."

@digitalocean UPDATE: The story gets even crazier.
3 days later @digitalocean reveals the reason for blocking ALL my servers:
A complaint about a former client who isn't even connected to my account. No legal grounds. Just a negative email from someone.
So it turns out this isn't just me — @digitalocean is shutting down accounts belonging to Ukrainian users.
@AlexBelogubov you went through the same thing. How did you get your access back?
@digitalocean I am following up again because I still do not have access to my account or servers. The only message I received was: “This is a friendly follow-up email…,” but there was no update, explanation, or resolution. Please escalate this case and provide an urgent status update today.
Hello @digitalocean , my account was suspended and I replied to the Trust & Safety email immediately to appeal, but haven't heard back. I have 10 days before data deletion. Could you please check my ticket?
