A frightened dog was left behind near a skating rink in Lorain late Friday night after a car drove away and never came back. Security video showed the confused dog running after the vehicle, desperately trying to follow the people it trusted.

Workers in the area said the sight was heartbreaking. The dog wandered around for days, approaching vehicles and searching for its owner. People tried to help over the weekend, worried the animal could be hit by traffic, but the scared dog stayed out of reach.

Everything changed Monday when a nearby resident patiently gained the dog's trust with food and finally secured him safely. She said the dog was gentle but clearly shaken and refused to leave her side.

Police later identified a 34-year-old Lorain woman after receiving community tips. She was cited on misdemeanor charges related to abandoning the dog, along with dog registration and rabies vaccination violations. The rescued dog was taken to the Lorain Dog Kennel, where many hope he will soon find the loving home he deserves.

Hannah Foster was abducted after a night out in Portswood, Southampton, by a Sikh man named Maninder Pal Singh Kohli not far from her family home.

The 17-year old's body was found two days after her disappearance. She had been beaten, raped and strangled to death, before her body was dumped in bushes just outside of Southampton.

It was later found that she had called 999 whilst in the back of her killer's van, but the operator had failed to realise that Hannah was in trouble.

On the recording, she could be heard giving a false name, that of her sister, to a man with an asian accent who asked her questions. Towards the end of the call her voice could be heard saying: "Huh ... listen ... anything." before the line went dead. Her mother, Hilary, later said that she had never heard Hannah sound so scared.

Kohli immigrated to Britain in 1993. He fled the country following the murder, returning to India and adopting a new identity. He was not immediately extradited due to the Indian police not prioritising the case. Only after Hannah's parents travelled to the area he was suspected to be in to find him themselves did that change.

He was arrested, and three years after the murder was extradited back to the UK where he was sentenced to life imprisonment. Kohli originally stated the reason for murdering Hannah was that "she refused not to report the crime", therefore he was "forced" to kill her. He later tried to claim that criminals had forced him to rape and kill her, much to the disbelief of the court.

He is expected to be released in 2030.

Opossums live short, difficult lives, yet they spend their nights doing work many people never see.

Most only live about one to two years in the wild. They move through backyards, forests, roadsides, and neighborhoods after dark, searching for food while avoiding cars, dogs, predators, and harsh weather. Their lives are brief, but their role in nature is meaningful.

Opossums help clean the world around you. They eat pests, insects, carrion, and sometimes even venomous snakes. They also help reduce ticks, which can carry disease. In their quiet way, they support the balance of the places they pass through.

Still, many people fear them because of how they look or because they appear at night. But opossums are usually shy, gentle animals. When scared, they often freeze, hiss, drool, or play dead because they want to survive, not attack.

Kindness can be simple. Give them space. Do not harm them. Slow down when you see one near the road. Let them keep doing the work nature gave them.

Opossums may not live long, but they leave the world cleaner than they found it.
