@japan_nobunaga In Northern Virginia, if you are new to the neighborhood, your first potluck dish cannot outrank any of the original neighbors' dishes. If anyone offers a favorable comment regarding your dish, you might get some side eye from other contributors.
@KatTimpf I am so sorry. My father died when I was 40 and left a gaping hole in my heart. When my husband recently passed away unexpectedly at 60 I watched my four kids experience the same thing. Be kind to yourself and hold your little family tightly.๐ข
@MrPitbull07 My "expert in his field" husband struggled for a few years to find work. Most positions going to women or other minorities. He died of a massive heart attack, I believe, because he was going to have to tell me of our financial ruin. A mess he hid from me for four years.
@ProjectVirginia A guy just came to my door with "Vote Yes" pamphlets. He said "this is supposed to tell you how to vote." I said, I can vote any way I want. He replied "I'm just reading what I'm told to say." I was enraged and told him I already voted.
@uppityhobbit My only daughter of four kids is about to have my first grandchild...in California where she and her husband live. They are across the country from me so it would be a bit expensive for them to "use me" as child care. If they were nearby I would gladly jump in.
@Mr_Husky1 My kids are 33, 31, 28, and 25 and we still regularly use the words that they mangled as children so....a bikini is a zucchini, a napkin is a nakin, and we always ask each other "wach you dooning?" My favorite is really tired for retired.
@bdomenech And, now, my adult children really do think I am crazy since I worried them for nothing. Also, I cleaned out my garage so I could get me new car in to save it from hail damage. Not that I'm unhappy my dogs weren't puking from fear of thunder.
@BuzzPatterson OMG. Getting so tired of this. I was adopted at 10, 2 birth certificates and adoption papers. Married at 27. Widowed at 60. I have a passport and a Real ID, which took 13 minutes to acquire.
@HarmeetKDhillon My husband passed away 15 months ago and my daughter is expecting my first grandchild in April. I need a hobby and knitting would fit perfectly. What is the best way to go about learning to knit?
@1Nicdar Just got one. DMV gave me a hard time. My marriage cert was signed by a Priest in 1991. Even though I got my driver's license and new SS card with it, it needed to be signed by someone not a Priest. Renewed my Passport and re-applied. The DMV is the problem.
@TheMorningSpew2 It is currently in a folder with my marriage license, SS card, passport, and two other documents confirming my address because I took all to the DMV last week to apply for the Real ID.
@MZHemingway When you finally talk to someone they will tell you that they will call you back in 7-10 days to schedule an appointment. After 12 days, you will call them back and they will repeat what they told you the first time. Rinse and repeat
