A little perspective. Posted this on my Facebook page and it got a good deal of interaction so thought I might do the same here on the Twitter.
First day of Year 31 at McCleskey Cotton Company, ironically on World Cotton Day.
Posted this picture on my Instagram story and a buddy messaged “How many T-shirts in that?” So that is about 1,200 T-shirts. And that’s 1,200 100% cotton shirts. So the popular blends these days, closer to 1,800 shirts. Grower receives about $325 for that bale. Some T-shirts retail these days for $25-$30.
$25,000 worth of shirts and the grower gets $325.
So, on World Cotton Day, please consider buying a Cotton shirt instead of a Plastic one. Not only is it more healthy for you and the environment, it might make Year 32 a little more promising than Year 31 for our employees and customers.
Im in the classic torture chamber where I cant tell if my internet keeps going out or whether #netflix is just constantly buffering and unwatchable for everybody
