@briebriejoy@AnarkYouTube@JoyceCarolOates Pledged allegiance all through K-12 and as an elementary teacher in Los Angeles until 1999. My middle school friend stood in the hallway each homeroom while we pledged in accordance with her religious beliefs.
New story, but I need your help.
I'm looking to talk w/ student loan borrowers who...
--Have old federal loans (10+ years)
--Have spent time in forbearance or deferment
--Think you might be helped by this...

I’ve covered student debt obsessively for the past 6 years for a documentary (coming soon!). One of the most misunderstood parts of this debate is: folks with graduate degrees. Many seem to think this group is all rich (or soon to be). This is weird & incorrect.
Quick thread…

If you attended a predatory for-profit school that lied to you, file a Borrower Defense. It has been a long hard fight but we are finally seeing billions of dollars of debt canceled. But you have to file!

In December of 2019, @JoeBiden told @denisha_jones that "Yes," he would "commit to ending the use of standardized testing" in public schools, because teaching to a standardized test "makes no sense." Does it make more sense this year?
Proof that having an educator in the White House and one as the Sec. of ED means nothing because it’s the lobbyists and companies profiting off of public education that actually run things.
Pearson, McGraw Hill, Bill Gates, etc.
@MeliD712@mtaibbi My students do have jobs that pay for their food, rent, and transportation. The amount of hours they need to work just to survive impacts the time they have for studies. Again this was not an issue when the state fully funded CUNY.
@MeliD712@mtaibbi This is not accurate. Not 7340 for 4 years. It’s 7340 per year which is 30k for 4 year. Also the 125k for free tuition requires finding a job instate for several years or grant turns into an interest bearing loan.
