@NLandFRS_CFO Yes I agree but there could be better take up in wildfire risk management plans and possibly research into safely controlling vegetation which thrives after fires like Molina and Bracken, the latter a particular issue in the Lakes, lots to work on.

Great memories of the courses I attended, superb instructor's . I feel more needs to be done to take some of the load/strain off the Fire service. Between Councils and landowners/managers planning and risk mitigation has to be improved massively to help manage the risk.

Big thanks again to our colleagues at @CumbriaFire who alongside our team, engaged with people who were putting the landscape in danger last night. Offending individuals were made to extinguish their Fires and BBQs, made to collect their litter and to move on.

This continues the trend of a record hot North Atlantic as previous record high ocean temperature records continue to get shattered.

At a global level, no ocean basin is seeing such widespread and intense marine heatwaves as the North Atlantic.

One of the most severe marine heatwaves on Earth has developed off the coast of Ireland and the UK, with water temperatures as high as 4-5°C above normal.

NOAA's Marine Heatwave Watch has categorized this event as a Category 4 (extreme) marine heatwave.

Please re think, the Lake District Rangers and the Cumbria Fire crews are trying there absolute best to prevent fires in the most precious landscape in England. These items must be taken off sale , please act on this advice.

Crews from across Highland have been engaged in firefighting in Invergarry at Tomdoun from 1430 today.

Scaled back overnight before helicopter operations are planned to resume in the morning 🚁 🔥
